When NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the first pick in last month's NFL draft, Monmouth College quarterback Alex Tanney knew his name would not be called. The Indianapolis Colts had long ago telegraphed their pick, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.

Despite shredding defenses in college, Tanney went undrafted because his accomplishments came in Division III ball. But without Luck's fame, Tanney determined to make his own luck. With the help of friends, he posted a YouTube video showcasing his phenomenal accuracy with the football.

The AP has a story about how the footage of Tanney throwing footballs into basketball hoops and speeding cars went viral. NFL teams took notice, and the Buffalo Bills recently asked Tanney to work out for the team. If things don't work out in the NFL, the man certainly has a career in marketing.

I'll never have a better opportunity to put this link in.  When I think Monmouth College, this is what I think of:

My thoughts exactly about the entrepreneurial spirit. Thanks for sharing the song. I realize now what my school's fight song was missing -- a guitar solo.

Those were really impressive shots.  But you can tell some of them came only after many, many failed takes because of the excited reactions of the other people in the video.

Failed takes or not, the kid's got an arm. But can he move in the pocket, scramble and all the rest that it takes? I'm pulling for him.
