A lot of fuss and fun has been made over the weekend about President Obama's woe-is-me interview lamenting his lack of privacy. But not only is this a ridiculous complaint for someone who has run for and won the Presidency of the United States, it is doubly ridiculous when that person has run in an explicitly personality driven, messianic campaign with popstars pledging their personal allegiance on YouTube.  And it is triply ridiculous for someone who has spent most of the last decade running for public office. And it is quadruply ridiculous for someone who has written TWO autobiographies before the age of 50. Another suggestion that Mr. Obama wants to be President for the perks, but not for the work.

At least Ms. Garbo had the decency to stop acting when she wanted to be let alone.

Agreed. Obama thinks of himself as a king.

"Woe" is the word you were looking for, but "whoa" (dude!) might better fit a President whose basketball predictions are far wiser than his policies.

Yes, unfortunate, but apt, typo.  Basically, every Obama interview is a "whoa-is-me" interview since his munificence is generally the topic for both the interviewer and the interviewee.

It's known as Selfless Narcissism, bordering on malignancy. When will our fellow citizens wake up to this abomination, this travesty, that is the Sophomore-Golfer-Vacationer-in-Chief?

Poor guy, he just picked the wrong nation to be president of. Should have tried China. Had he been elected he could have done all the same crazy stuff with all the privacy in the world to do it in. Would've been a perfect fit.

There's an easy way for him to enjoy his anonymity again.  Resign and move, possibly someplace like North Korea.  I doubt many of the common people of that country will recognize who he is.  They may even have a community organizer position available.

I notice under Interests he left out:

  2. On the National Debt;
  3. Me;

So many ways to address this... The man is neither has any management or leadership qualiites in any meager sense.

This may be an oversimplification, when the man stated, I Won.. Pretty much spells it out. Obviously the man is out of has depth in this office...

Therefore adopts a stance of being above all the trivial tasks of performing same.

The dissassociation with realities as they present themselves is disturbing...

Artfully, concisely summed up, Brian! You nailed it. James: I'm inclined to follow LinkedIn's sidebar suggestion, and "Find a different Barack Obama". It appears there are many to choose from.

No mention of community organizing on his Linkedin profile.

I also like that he lists as one of his specialties, "Recognizing the threat posed by weapons of mass destruction". So I guess before he became a senator in 2004 no one ever realize that WMD's were dangerous.

Great post, Brian.  That Obama feels he can express this 'woe is me' attitude without it occurring to him that it could come across to many Americans as ridiculous tells us just how out of touch he is.

It is shocking how juvenile he is and how entitled he feels.  And he's the POTUS!  It's embarrassing.

I should have added a quintupley for a guy who inserts himself into every aspect of our lives (the Super Bowl, EPSN, American Idol, and even the Food Network, etc, etc, et everyloving cetera).

At first I was mildly amused by his posturing, thinking that it was the "usual" for persons seeking the office. Then I started to actually listen to his diatribe, and became angered at how he turned EVERYTHING to be about him--a reflection of him--a following of HIS ideas, etc. I started to see him on EVERY news show everyday, and now...

I think it has finally turned in the direction of self destruction, in that, his CONSTANT blabbering will begin to turn off even his supporters.

He will never be lonely as long as he has a mirror!
