Life Imitates ... Irving Kristol
Many years ago, the father of neo-conservatism opined that "a liberal is a person who sees a fourteen-year-old girl performing sex acts onstage and wonders if she's being paid minimum wage." We seem to have just had a version of this truth in our nation's capital. As the headline put it, "Judge Slams Club for Underpaying Strippers." Presumably they were all at leas 18, so youth was not a concern, only economic fairness:
WASHINGTON (CN) - A D.C. strip club, cheekily named The House, failed to pay its exotic dancers minimum wage, a federal judge ruled.
The House, which styles itself as "an exotic gentlemen's club in Washington, D.C. featuring nude female dancers," had unsuccessfully tried to dismiss the lawsuit by claiming that its dancers were independent contractors and not entitled to minimum wage under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Waitresses don't get minimum wage. Why should strippers?
As Steyn often says, "tyranny is always whimsical."
A friend in college stripped during the summer and was able to live off that money the rest of the year... as well as pay off her student loans, as I recall. Want of money is not what ails them.

I stripped in college, as well. As I recall, it cost me money. I'm thinking in particular of the time we were photgraphed in front of the administration building, mooning. As I knew we were in trouble, anyway, I got the rest of the people involved to join me in a pyramid of moons. Plus, I never got a royalty from the publication of the photos.
