. . . because they just seem to give the impression that they don't know how to use them.

There is a great shot of Al Gore in VietNam --- I think he was a photo journalist or something? --- looking down into the barrel of a gun.

There are so many valid reasons to criticize Senator Kerry.  Let's not make up phony ones.  He was a Navy officer.  He knows how to use a gun.

He doesn't know how to run to first base.

Foxman, are you referring to the possible career limiting picture found at

http://www.freewebs.com/enviroscam/vietgore.htm

I cannot vouch for its legitimacy, or otherwise at that site. Much as I loathe the Gore, Al, Tipper, - a Vidal, I will give Al some credit for serving in Vietnam, which is more than the odd lack of attendance to duty at the National Guard by GW. Bush, or that complete dodgy fraud Bill Clinton.

Looking at those (doctored?) photos above, I can only imagine the wearing of jeans so high-waisted; has caused some circulatory distress.

I am referring to the picture of Senator Kerry with a shotgun, above.

No, he obviously does not.  One never, ever, ever puts his finger on a trigger as he is doing in that photo.  Rule number one of gun safety: FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER unless you are actually ready to shoot.

And he's obviously not looking at what he's preparing to shoot (unless he was preparing to shoot the photographer, in which case he has really bad aim).

It's going to be hard for us to claim superiority on weapons handling until we can put Dick Cheney's hunting accident behind us by a few more years.

Kerry needs to keep his booger picker off the bang switch till his eyes and sights are on the target.

Although if you go to most trap shoots and you'll see a number of examples of unsafe gun handling - pistol and rifle guys get a large ration of FINGER and a good stern talking to if their finger gets inside the trigger guard without their sights and eyes not being on the target.

Thank you Kenneth for your spot on observation.  A range officer would have immediately issued a warning to Kerry for a safety violation with his finger on the trigger while he was not at the firing line and prepared to immediately discharge his weapon on target.  I hope the shotgun was pointed down range or that would have been another safety violation and a range officer would likely remove the shooter from the shooting area.  As a life member of the Single Action Shooting Society, the California Rifle & Pistol Association and as a 5 year renewing member of the NRA I can assure everyone that this is a flagrant safety violation and not to be taken lightly.

Kerry may have forgotten all his gun safety training, but I would argue that he never ever learned how to throw and catch a football.

I loved how during the 04 campaign, Rush used to play the audio of him going into a battleground state's local sporting goods shop, announcing, "can I get me a huntin' license?"  It obviously fooled no one...

Keith, too true.  The man was a gaffe machine.  My favorite was the photo op in Philadelphia when he ordered his cheesesteak with gruyere.

He certainly doesn't know how to deer hunt, talking about "crawling around on the ground with his 12 gauge".  Every hunter in Wisconsin busted a gut when he dropped that comment.

Assumes facts not in evidence. But, I'll concede that Lt. Kerry knows how to kill a deer with a mounted machine gun.

Foxman, he may have been a Naval officer, I was too. He doesn't know how to handle a gun, as anyone  familiar firearm safety would tell you. No one puts their finger inside of the trigger guard until they are ready to shoot. You will note that he has he finger on the trigger and is looking stupidly away from down range. There is a similar picture of Barbara Boxer holding an AK-47 in congress with her finger on the trigger. These people are not only incompetent, they are dangerous.

Audio clip here. One of the many reasons Al Gore regrets inventing the internet.
