Let's play a round of "would you rather."

Would you rather...

A. Have a government that blew half a billion dollars on a flailing solar company that declared bankruptcy just two years later?

Or

B. Have a government that blew $600 million over five years on pensions for dead folks?

Lucky for you, you don't have to choose!

In the past five years, the federal government has paid out $601 million in benefits to federal retirees who will never be able to enjoy them — because they’re dead.

According to a report from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, payments to deceased annuitants range from $100 to $150 million per year, averaging $120 million annually.

In the report, Inspector General Patrick McFarland stressed that although steps had been made to address the problem, “there remains a high probability that egregious loss of monies from the CSRDF will continue and require strategic corrective actions.”

Following  the money trail would be interesting. Like to compare the voting records as well. Not likely the dead are paid to vote though...

You'd better be planning on paying the pensions of dead folks!  They form a huge voting block back up north in Cook County.

My grandfather was a life-long Republican.  I can't think of any opinion I ever heard him express about FDR that wouldn't be an automatic CoC violation, and probably blasphemous to boot.  But I'm sure being dead for eighteen years didn't prevent him from voting for Barack Obama -- maybe even more than once.

Is this what they mean when they say things along the lines of "invest in America's future?"

They're only mostly dead, Obamacare will soon bring them all the way back to life.
