cats-are-ready-for-anything

Who's loudly taking credit for killing bin Laden, putting themselves at the center of attention?

Obama and the dogs.

Who's modestly staying in the background, having quietly done their jobs like the professionals they are?

That would be the Navy SEALS and the unknown team of heros who operate so discreetly, so stealthily, and with such tight organizational security that they've even managed to keep the name of their species out of the press.

Just saying.

No wonder they can’t publish any photo: there’s nothing left of him to be seen.

Too bad cats don't like to get wet, otherwise it could, like, totally be them.

What is that kitten? Petsnaz? Because I'm pretty sure that‘s a PKM. I'll ask my Russian cat, but either way, I don’t think you’re helping the patriotic case…

Nattering nabob of negativity

Dogs don't bring there owners freshly assassinated gofers hiding for years in a compound.  Only cats have the patience and skill to hunt and exterminate with extreme prejudice.

Questions.

Why didn't we capture/kill everyone in the OBL compound?  Clearly they were not our friends so they are our enemy.  Simple logic but true.

What would have happended if Obama had not ordered the operation and we found out?

Doesn't caring about how the Muslim world would react to his killing show weakness?

Is there a Republican presidential candidate who will stand up and say we will cut the defense budget after cutting every other federal program including Social Security?  This is why Ron Paul and his people piss me off (have four of Paul's books and understand his reasoning but he is dead wrong on foreign policy).  They want to treat defense spending as the same as wealth transfer programs.  The only legitimate function of the federal government is national defense and the Paulians want to gut it.

I guess from the enemy perspective,a canine shield would beat a feline shield-assuming the canine isn't one of those annoying little Yorkies, or one of their ilk? Another thought just occurs-do Muslims not dislike dogs? Would a few serious guard dogs in the compound not have helped Osama's people to defend it,including giving warning of the raid? Is it like the dog that did not bark (because it wasn't there?).

Try to find that happening the other way around.

You know, the thing is--I actually love dogs. I mean, as much as I love cats.

I totally want to imagine that this photo features one of Claire's cats and was taken on her rooftop terrace in downtown Istanbul. I just love the idea of that, as I sit here in sub-suburbia.

I love it!  Claire, once I saw Rob's post, I knew you'd have a good comeback.

Bill:  "petsnaz" is the funniest thing I've heard since Rob Long's OBL martini joke earlier this week.  Thanks.

I'm reminded of this image.  (Never mind the anachronism.)
