Über Bloggers Mickey Kaus and Jennifer Rubin return and get wonky with it.

As Mickey himself writes: This week, we  wallow in Obamalaise! How the MSM will react, now that even Obama’s supporters are turning on him? Also: Mickey accuses Rubin of being a hitwoman for Bachmann! And, why cutting entitlements is easy, cutting bureaucrats is hard, and the secret anti-Medicare concordance between Obama and Paul Ryan. Meanwhile, Mickey ponders the possibility of a third party candidate, and Jennifer backs a (very) long shot candidate on the left.

We're still celebrating Kaus and Rubin's return, so this episode is free for everyone. Listen in here:

I hope that the conversation is a little more balanced this time -- it seemed to me that Jennifer took about 80% of the air time in the last podcast, and consistently cut Mickey off mid-sentence (regrettably, a too-common problem on all the Ricochet podcasts IMO).  Mickey's possibly the last liberal in the world of public discourse who engages his interlocutors with civility and respect, and the one podcast partner who really brings a unique point of view.  Let him talk!

I noticed jennifer is going after pawlenty a lot to protect bachmann. why? Bachmann has no chance in the general head to head vs Obama. she's the sharron angle of the 2012 presidential race.

Jennifer says that the debt deal's rules cannot be enforced and you can't take the other side to court to stick by them and I yell at the screen "They can't even enforce the law requiring a federal budget!"

Then Mickey says something about "wringing the fat from the budget " and I yell "WHAT BUDGET!"

We don't make enough of this issue.

What? Jennifer Rubin wrote off the TP as "crazies" and people who don't think ruin would follow a failure to raise the debt ceiling as "nutty". Those things pretty much define Bachmann, how can you interpret Rubin as protecting her?

And why do you say that? What's your evidence for such a definitive claim?

Exactly. I read her blog and her attacks on Pawlenty-whom I consider a sharp, well-informed and articulate candidate-have become increasingly unfair and puzzling. She's almost calling him names now and couldn't cover his campaign any worse if she intended to hurt his chances. My theory is that she's a Romney supporter and 'protecting' Bachmann is more about boosting Romney. I just wish she were more honest about it.

Hi David,

Because this is a premium podcast, it will not turn up in search results in iTunes (that's Apple's rule, not ours). However, I tested the link and it does work here. You might try this: copy this link: http://ricochet.com/podcast/feed/members/lc-rc and then in iTunes, go to Advanced, then Subscribe to Podcast, paste in the link and hit OK. That should subscribe you. If it doesn't, please write me at podcast@ricochet.com. Thanks.

I mentioned this in comments a few months ago, it's so off-putting I can't listen anymore.
