Left Coast/Right Coast #13: Kaus v. Coulter
Our friend Ann Coulter graciously sits in for Jennifer Rubin this week and yes, there's a lot of Mittversation. Later, Ann calls Mickey on the carpet for some of his lefty views and she does the full press on Speaker Moonbase, immigration, and offers a spirited defense of RomneyCare. Nonetheless, Mickey does get Ann to seriously consider (gasp) joining the new union he's starting to defend against a particularly onerous boss.

Frankly Scarlet I'm not impressed,
How difficult will it be for Ann to make mince meat out of your average New York lefty Jewish (but not religiously Jewish) guy. After she wipes the floor with him (ho hum) she'll have a little lunch and that will be it.
I'm a nasty poor Extreme Right Wing Republican Orthodox Shomer Shabbat Orthodox Jew from Pittsburgh (you know we're all bastards from Pittsburgh, Jack Kennedy said so).
If Ann wants to go a few rounds with me I'll teach her about the dread disease Romnesia. I think she's coming down with it. I can help.
Regards from The Island,
Jim

I hate finding out what podcasters look like. It totally ruins my "mind's eye" idea of what they look like.

Re: Left Coast/Right Coast #13: Kaus v. Coulter
I've been at work (sorry Ann but I'm poor and need to work, you know, to pay my rent and stuff). I've just got a chance to listen to the actual pod-cast now.
Oh boy. There's nothing like a lefty democrat debating the newly crowned Queen of the RINOs.
Your royal highness. My oh my am I impressed. Not since Tokyo Rose have I been so inspired. Ann, I'll see you at Bethesda by the Sea on election day. I said I wouldn't vote for Romney even if Hell did freeze over. Now, having been inspired by the Queen of the RINOs, I wouldn't vote for Romney if Gd parted the Intercoastal and Romney came across to The Island.
This is a test from Gd and Ann is failing it.
Regards from The Island,
Jim

This podcast needs an audio filter. Whether it's Jen-jen or AnnAn theres this tone that makes me feel like I forgot to take out the trash and I left my beer cans all over the living room. There's a Jewish version and a WASP version, I'm not sure which is worse.

"The lady doth protest too much, me thinks" Also she's rude.

Poor Mickey. Neither Jen nor Ann will actually listen to him. And what he has to say is well worth listening to.
Demonic was a really strong book. Ms Coulter's arguments for Romney on this and the other podcast are terrible. She needs to listen to Mike Murphy...

I've just got one question, Ann. You can have whatever position you like, and support Romney on substance, etc. But ... do you disagree with Mark Levin on his assessment of the response of the Republican establishment to Newt's surge?

Re: Left Coast/Right Coast #13: Kaus v. Coulter
I really liked the podcast. There was plenty of give-and-take, and they both seemed to enjoy themselves.
Ann Coulter likes Mitt Romney. I get that, I expected her to make a case for him, and I'm OK with it.
The joke at the end about unionizing against the Rob Long media monolith was pretty funny.

Please would someone teach, suggest, Anne not to squeal?

I loved it. Ann Coulter always seems to have done a lot more research than those she debates. And her confidence in herself is inspiring.
She might be wrong on this point or that, or even on a fundamental issue, but you've got to get up pretty early and stay on your toes to out-debate her.

My hat's off to Mickey Kaus. The guy has a lot of courage to be on this website.

I love Ann! I now she can come across to some as too brash or even rude but that is exactly why I like her. To many on the right believe there is some unwritten Queensberry rules for politeness in politics while left kicks our teeth in. Ann will, at least, get into the ring with them and metaphorically punch them in the mouth.
Michael Murphy, on the other hand, seems to see himself as some Republican philosopher king. He has an unctuous quality that puts me off even when I am agreeing with him.
I would love it if Ann would rotate through all the podcasts making a guest appearance on each.

All you need do is listen to the Ricochet podcast where Peter Robinson takes her on. His humble and self-effacing manor may somewhat disguise the fact that he eviscerated her. By the end, he graciously acted as though she had almost worn him down but it was clear that he had nailed her to the wall and left her sputtering. And it was equally clear that she didn't much like it.
No need for a match of the century. She's already been bested.
