Gas House Gang

The lawyers of summer (along with manager Troy Senik) are back with a wide ranging discussion including the legalities of the debt ceiling negotiations, the Mexican national death penalty case in Texas, phone hacking in Great Britain, Richard's celebrity spotting moments, and some bold predictions for the fall classic.

Yeti's idea, my execution. Sometimes, you just shouldn't shake off the catcher.

John Yoo

Great photo -- except I would never, ever, ever, never, ever be caught dead in a Cardinals uniform.  I'm a Phillies fan.  Though any team that would have Epstein in the Yogi Berra role would get a second look.

Is that because you're a Phillies fan or because men over the age of 12 are forbidden to wear jerseys unless they are actual professional baseball players?....

Apologies to John Yoo. As a Reds fan, I too, loathe those Redbirds. Here's your 1949 Bowman.

EJ is the JEDI MASTER!

Troy Senik

Hmmm, EJ has me in Cleveland Indians attire (though I agree that the parallels between my life and Charlie Sheen's are striking) and the Yeti found a way to sneak in a hymn for the Minnesota Twins as the closer. Methinks there's an AL Central conspiracy at Ricochet ... and my suspicion is that the puppet master is none other than Chicago White Sox apologist Richard Epstein.

I look forward to listening to this during my Saturday.  There is something very amusing about listening to intellectual discourse as I turn wrenches in the garage.  It also keeps the riff-raff (children, Beloved) out of the garage.  Jamming tunes has the opposite effect of drawing family flies to the garage that rarely offer to help, even on their own cars.  Then as I obvously leak from some unnoticed injury, they will say things such as, "You know, you really should have Mom pour alcohol on that.  I could help."  Yes, they could help, then, in pouring alcohol over a cut on my fingers.  They are evil, you know.

I have a force field against children that wish to pour alcohol over my flayed fingers, or Beloved suggesting that all that grease on my head is probably why I am losing my hair, the moment they come within 10m of Richard's voice expounding some radical concept, or John patiently defending the essential moderation of Ghenghis Khan.  Bliss!

Plus, if somebody enters my zone, they know they have to stop chattering about whom didn't dry the dishes correctly and may actually absorb some knowledge.  About motors, I mean.

Love the podcast. Not sure what the best way to go about asking a question, but as a molecular biologist, I am very much interested in the recent ruling on Myraid's patent of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. I am undecided on the issue, as I can see it both ways and would love to hear legal experts expound upon the implications.

Love the podcast, and I side with Richard on instant replay.  Am I the only one who sometimes thinks Richard sounds like Lewis Black when he gets going?
