Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch had a piece up on Real Clear Politics last week indicating that he is unlikely to support President Obama in 2012.  I looked back at the history of Koch's presidential picks and found that he has a pretty good record of picking the winner over the last three decades.  Koch is a lifelong Democrat, but he has a good instinct for abandoning the Democrats who end up losing, including Jimmy Carter in 1980 and John Kerry in 2004.  History is informative rather than predictive, of course, but Koch's rejection of Obama leading up to 2012 is a good omen for the GOP.

From Hizzoner’s mouth to the Electoral College’s ears!

I've felt the urge to say this quite a few times over the years, and I'm happy to do so yet again.

God bless Ed Koch.

Peter -- I am with you.  Koch is one of a kind.
