The Strike Eagles of 'Dudette 07': All-female crew in historic mission over Afghanistan

A squadron of American female Airman, called the Strike Eagles of 'Dudette 07', made history last week when they launched an air mission over Afghanistan.

The two F-15E jets roared off from Bagram on Wednesday, just west of the Pakistan border, and offered close air support for coalition and Afghan forces.

The quod, made up of two pilots and two weapons system officers, became part of the first mission in U.S. Air Force history to be planned, maintained and flown by women.

I recall somewhere that this happened once before in Iraq only it involved a Army National Guard Helicopter unit. Ground crew, flight crew and planners were all women. I'll have to look that up.

I maintain a weekly blog for my girls Mary Jane and Laurel, and write them regular NotesFromDaddy.  Its been several weeks since I posted a new Note.  I didn't know just yet about that which I would be writing next.  You just provided me my subject matter for this week!  Thanks!  Rest assured my girls will be reading and appreciating this story many years from now when they are old enough to take in all my notes.  It deserves that kind of attention and safekeeping.

I didn't see a picture, so it must be some sort of a diaper for the females.??  The guys in my husband's squadron used to call the thing they went in "the cheese sandwich".  Because after they went it expanded and ended up looking like one.  So, I was just wondering what food item the female version ends up looking like. :-)

I believe they use the same thing with an attachment that makes contact easier.

No subject is too large, too small, or too obscure for Ricochet. Or, apparently, too icky. :-)

And congrats to the Dudettes. They are awesome.

Maybe this should be our new motto!

Yeah, it seems the nature of aircraft nullifies the physical differences between men and women. So technically speaking, women can opt for some combat MOSs in the military.

Thanks, Ursula! I enjoyed that story and might have missed it otherwise. More power to the flying Dudettes, and Godspeed to all our warriors in harm's way.
