The movie is Idiocracy. You definitely need to put it on your Netflix list. Imagine it as Mark Steyn's worst demography nightmare made into a screwball comedy.

With lines like that, you should be in there prepping our nominee for the presidential debates! · Sep 8 at 8:09pm
Alas, I would if I didn't have any homework to do. Thanks, though, and if you hear of any openings...

Gosh I wish I had written that.

I got this from a friend's facebook post and it's pretty good:
The difference between Obama and Lincoln is that Lincoln mobilized The Union whereas Obama mobilizes the unions.

About 30% of his base will love the speech, mostly residents of urban areas who see the headlines in a newspaper stand and consider that being informed. The middle? I can't see anyone being persuaded by this, unless it convinces him or her that the president has no idea what to do.
I get the feeling that the whole thing was put on just so people could hear him say words in an authoritative-like voice. That's similar to my feeling that the scene in Zoolander that results in the walk-off was written for the line, "Put a cork in it, Zane!" I feel similar sentiments for Mr. Obama.
How many Democrats want to vote for this?

cbc: He did hit the green issues several times. He talked about biofuels, mass transit projects, and environmental safety. I think he mentioned mercury several times. Mercury regulation is an example of good regulations that keep people safe.
Does anyone know how many people in the US died last year from mercury poisoning? Does anyone know what the mercury regulations will cost per life saved? Does anyone do any cost/benefit analysis. How many lives could be saved if that money was allocated in other ways? · Sep 8 at 6:40pm
I don't know any of that stuff but I do know that if I hold an anchovy under my tongue for a few minutes I can read my temperature.

Joseph Eagar: ...
Obviously, if the government spent an additional trillion dollars in 2012 the economy would roar back. But who in their right mind would finance that? There are limits to how far we can push our "exorbitant privilege" as the reserve currency.
And imagine the crash afterwords.
They tried that, This is the crash afterward. And government spending does not result in proportionate private hiring, which is where the jobs are. Especially when bumbling Barry likes to beat on private industry to avenge himself for all the profits they have made at his expense. The underlying philosophy? The world should serve his every whim out of unconditional love. Put a fork in him, he's done.

That's true, I meant if they added yet another trillion (i.e. if we amp the deficit up to 20% of GDP). That's quite a lot of borrowed money. You are correct; it doesn't result in proportionate hiring, which is why it would take such a huge dollar amount. Of course, we'd experience the mother of all crashes in 2013, that was my point.
