Well this would be a kind of lackluster ending to the story of the American labor union leader's disappearance in 1975:

A tip from a dying man could finally be the missing clue in the mystery of what happened to Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa, who vanished 37 years ago.

MyFoxDetroit.com reports investigators are searching the ground beneath a suburban Detroit driveway after a man told authorities he saw a body being put into the ground around the same time Hoffa disappeared. The man is said to be dying of cancer and was not identified by police.

After the tip was received by the Roseville Police Department, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality used ground penetrating radar on a 12-foot-by-12-foot patch beneath the driveway, said agency spokesman Brad Wurfel.

It found "that the earth had been disturbed at some point in time," Berlin said.

It's been a letdown ever since they figured out he wasn't buried at Giants Stadium in New Jersey.

Paving the way, no doubt, for union workers.

I figured that he, Kennedy, and Elvis had gone Galt together.

Think of all the middle class jobs being created by this union leader in the excavation industry.

And here I thought he must be somewhere in AUDaughter's closet or under her bed.

You peoples think that Jimmy Hoffa was the only mook they had to find a place for? Everybody wants their body to be that body! Jeez Louise....

Maybe it's only Judge Crater or some other lesser character.

This is extremely disappointing for the Obama re-election team as this was one vote they thought they could count on.

Who says they can't? Just let ACORN register him in several different swing states.

I'm just relieved to know he didn't end up in some of those yummy Polish sausages I ate as a kid growing up in the Cleveland area!

Thanks... hopefully I can get that image out of my head before lunchtime. :p

If I recall right from the version of the story I read, the cops said they're sure it's not Hoffa, because the timeline doesn't work, but that there may be a body there, based on the guy's story and the fact that ground-penetrating radar shows the earth under the paving seems to have been disturbed at some point. But none of us would have read a story called "Cops looking for body that's not Jimmy Hoffa's."

And why does the pic of Jimmy Hoffa above remind me a lot of Eddie Munster?

Will the bakeries in the Detroit area once more have the cupcakes with bodies crawling out of the ground?  Of course!  It's nearly Halloween.  This happens every autumn.

Already is. And they counted him a couple thousand times to help derive the D+9 sample in the poll data.

Obama will take credit for finding Hoffa.

And will claim that the Bush Administration put Hoffa in the ground.

I only hope the digging stops until Geraldo is there. Only he could do the final excavation scene justice.
