It's for the kids, my astroturf!

I saw a report on the news from Wisconsin which showed a female union protester screaming "It's about the kids! It's about the kids!"
If it were really about the kids then they'd work with the Governor to reduce the debt by funding a small portion of their health insurance and pensions. That would help dig the state of Wisconsin out of its financial hole. Instead, they're digging in their heels and using the kids as an excuse.
If they were intellectually honest, they'd see that by resisting they are, in effect, strapping a financial bomb to their kids.
Now, that really makes me grumpy!

Yes, the kids need selfish frauds in the classrooms teaching the next generation to beggar their society, lie, cheat and steal. The children of Wisconsin were treated to the full course yesterday, the staging area for bogus doctors notes to cover fraudulent sick days, signed off by doctors spitting on the tax payers.
The maggots are on film. Their students and patients know who they are and what they are. The tax payers of Wisconsin now know.

"It’s about the kids” is just a phony as “It’s not about the money.” It’s really not about the kids as sure as it really is about the money.
But the latter is just about money, the former is thugs and bullies hiding behind children.

Re: It's for the kids, my astroturf!
I saw on This Week this morning, a protester leading the crowd.
"Is it about the money?" "No!"
"Is it about the benefits?" "No!"
"Is it about doing the best we can?" "Yes!"
At best it's extreme cognitive dissonance; at worst they're profoundly disingenuous. The thought that using sick days to strike is in the best interests of the children is insane. Does it seem to anyone else that these people are using other people's children as hostages to leverage more money from the state treasury when there is no money left?
That was really cynical of me.

No, you are spot on.

Looks to me like an excellent opportunity for Wisconsin to clean house. These teachers have lost the moral authority to conduct a classroom.

"Teachers do it because they love it!" ... Rita Wilson
Of course it has been my experience that people who do anything as a labor of love are very rarely concerned regarding compensation (if any) regarding such a labor.
I'm beginning to believe the old cliche` "Those who can, do. Those who cannot teach."

I've long felt that the Left just really hates the young. They do everything they can to keep them from being concieved, they advocate aborting them when conception happens, they want them stuck in factory daycares as early as possible so they don't have to raise them themselves; through bad education they deprive them of the tools they need to make their own way in life, they mortgage their children's future to make up for their own inability to manage their finances. And like you point out, they are always willing to use them as hostages.
I don't know why they do this. I've always thought of having children as a sign of faith in the future; the "sacrifices" one supposedly makes for one's children aren't actually sacrifices, they are affirmations that life is worth living. Maybe they lack that; or perhaps they just dislike the competition for affection. In any case, it is disturbing.

I'm just glad none of my illegitimate children live in Wisconsin (last time I checked, anyway). To think that they might be not-taught by these clods is enough to cause the occasional twinge of guilt.

You have just described the Soviet Union. Ever been there? That is how it worked, and now the people of Russia are barely able to conduct their lives without someone telling them what to do.

I hope some precociously political high schooler (like I was*) calls out his teacher for using him as a prop.
*I had friends who flirted with that cliché, brain-dead, high school anarcho-socialism. Even as a teen I knew that was idiotic, and defended capitalism vigorously.
