Maybe I'm out of touch, but I watched this and thought it was quite an effective ad--that is, if you're trying to get Romney elected.
What's not to like?

Romney ought to own this ad. Take it, run it in prime time, then step in front of it and say "I approve his message."

Not much to add beyond amen, since I just "liked" nearly every comment. This is an excellent argument for Romney. With the right running mate, I'll enthusiastically work on his campaign.

It's a truly bizarre ad. I mean, it's like the campaign advisers think "conservative" is a dirty word. It's not. Twice as many people identify as conservative compared to liberal, right?

A few days back I was reading some ridiculous Wisconsin blog that was listing the reasons we should recall our Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch (also a target of the June recalls). One of the reasons given was that (gasp!) she once worked for a conservative talk show host! These people seriously think that should be grounds for recall.

I'll tell you 'wha!?' While this video does seem like a meager sprinkling of chum for the Obot sharks, that particular clip reinforces the general feeling that Romney is a shameless panderer. I mean, who on here really believes him when he says that about himself?

He cut spending, supported charter schools, limited gay marriage to Mass citizens, put an end to all manner of interfering bureaucracies, reformed the homeless benefit system and judicial selection system to give liberals less power, protected gun rights, fought hard to get conservatives into the state legislature (although Kerry's nomination meant that this transformed into a defensive fight). I get that to a lot of people, Romneycare is the only thing he did, but that doesn't mean he's being dishonest in his self descriptions that allow for the rest of his actions.

I think this video saved Romney a lot of effort. He can use this in his ads. It's great!

Can all Bachmann / Perry / Gingrich / Santorum supporters please watch this ad?! Romney adding "I approve this message" would be a nice touch, of course - but even without it... Can we stop whining that he is not conservative enough, and that we will have to hold our noses, and that "o-o-ok, if I have to".

I will happily cede my name to Romney if he needs it to title a policy initiative such as Severely Ltd. Government or maybe a rebranding of the IRS to the SLRS (Severely Ltd. Revenue Service). I feel it's the least I can do.
Of course I want an invite to the ribbon cutting.

My only problem with "severe" is that it's not really good English, which makes the claim sound less than serious. "Strongly" would have been better; well, maybe "severe" is more memorable because it's poor English?

You're right on the money Claire.
If the GOP has any guts and wits about them (big "if") they will immediately put out an ad that uses EXACTLY the same clips, with a small number of captions to point out omitted things such as what the opposite of "being able to fire people who provide me services" would be.
Mitt Romney ... Severely conservative. Severely American. And severely not Obama.
"I'm Mitt Romney, and 95% of this ad was approved by the DNC. I also approve of it."

that is amazing. simply amazing. That ad will work with people who would already vote for obama even if he pulled a zipper down from the top of his head and revealed that he is, in fact, from mars. Yes. mars.

Change the music and this is a pro-Romney add, though you could probably leave out the Iraq comment. I think the worst part of it for the left is their use of the immigration/Dream Act comment. It tells you where their mindset is on that issue. They really think it is a good idea to leave out the word "illegal" and try to scare undecided voters away from a candidate who doesn't want to sign an act making millions of illegals citizens during a really bad economy.
