Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?

Maybe I'm out of touch, but I watched this and thought it was quite an effective ad--that is, if you're trying to get Romney elected.
What's not to like?

Depends on where they broadcast it. It's clearly targeting at the Democrat base and left-leaning independents.
If it's only available to people who already subscribe to Obama's YouTube channel, then there's really no mystery.

Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
That a whole bunch of people could watch that and determine that they could never vote for Romney bothers me to no end. We need the Santorum hold-outs to watch that repeatedly. I haven't seen a better argument FOR electing Romney in a long time.
Thanks Obama/Biden Truth Team.

I don't think you're the one out of touch, Claire.
I've discovered (and I'm actually surprised by this) that Democrats believe just being called "conservative" is grounds enough to keep someone out of office.
Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
Democrats are weird.

Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
If this is how Obama supporters plan to spend their money, a Romney presidency is far more likely than I thought.

More evidence that Liberals live in a bubble. Anything outside that bubble is to be feared.

It's available to anyone; I'd seen it before it came up here. It's only promoted to liberals, though. This is the other side of Mollie's post on micro-targetting. You find out who will be energized by watching this and you try to make sure they watch it. Likewise, on our side, with, eg., the BAIPA.

Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
Misthios has it right, this ad is for Dems/ Dem leaners only.
It is meant to keep the squishy Dems from switching teams and give the lazy Dems a reason to show at the polls.

Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
This is the most excited I've been about Romney since the process started. Maybe the Democrats are tired of Obama, too?

Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
A YouTube video comprised of public domain video clips costs next to nothing.
Do we know if the Dems are spending real money to broadcast this on television? Personally, I doubt they are.

I am laughing out loud - I feel better about Romney already. I'm sure Team Romney is loving it too. The Obama-Biden campaign just paid for his ad!

Well, between the "Mole" and this - if this keeps up and I'll go from tepid to enthusiastic Romney supporter.

1 minute, 56 seconds long, and it's from the "Truth Team". Just add 4 seconds more, Dems, and you'll have the full Two Minutes Hate from the Ministry of Truth.

Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
However, having just spent some time with my uber-left family members, I'd say that Claire is out of touch - they see Romney as being as evil as Karl Rove, Ronald Regan, etc. fill in the blank...this to them is a rallying cry.
One very thoughtful and intelligent member of the left side of the gathering commented: "This is the most important election of our life times, we have to secure what we've started, this is our last chance to remake this into a better nation."
I'm afraid they view this election in the same way we do, the question is how does the rest of the nation, the part that doesn't follow politics as a blood sport come down on it, and how will they come down on it in November.

Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
Demographically, more Americans identify as conservative than as liberal. This ad assumes the viewer will recoil in horror at the word "conservative." I don't think it's going to have the effect they think it will have.
Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
I've been too harsh in my judgment of President Obama. He actually is something of a uniter after all, at least when it comes to bringing disaffected Republicans together behind Mitt Romney.

Re: Is This Supposed to be an Attack Ad?
Ryan's plan supposedly "ends medicare as we know it". That's some nice wordplay. If I paint my blue car red, I've ended my car as I know it, because I know it as a blue car. In fact, any change ends something as we know it. Is Obama running against change?

I wish he had used a word other then "severely" but other than that I'm with him.

My wife told me that yesterday she was at work and some of her co-workers were discussing the George W. Bush Presidential Center's conference that was held at the New York Historical Society (I think on Tuesday). Apparently the husband of one of my wife's co-workers works at the NYHS and was appalled and aghast that, horror of all horrors, Karl Rove had attended. "What do you think they were doing in there?" asked one of the co-workers. Coming up with some secret nafarious plot, was the general consensus. Mind you, these co-workers were speaking in front of my wife and they know that she is a Republican. Yet they still act like the mere fact that Republicans would gather for a conference is proof of evil intent.
