Okay, I'm beginning to feel like that dentist kid on YouTube.  Remember, the boy who was under sedation and kept asking his father, "Is this real life?"  Or wait, maybe I'm like the guy in one of those thrillers where the solution is he's really in an asylum and the whole story has been in his mind.  I mean, I've watched this video five times now, and every time, Obama sounds to me like President Homer Simpson.  He essentially says:  "People say I shouldn't raise taxes and hurt the economy, but don't worry about me so much, I'll only be doing that on non-election years so it won't affect me."  Take a look and tell me, am I hearing this wrong?  Please say yes, okay?

He knows there's a camera there ... doesn't he?

This is almost as bad as the part where he says Congressional Democrats prefer to do nothing on debt, deficits, and entitlements and then says he's sympathetic to their concerns...

Huh?

Is there something admirable about wanting to avoid making tough decisions or about sympathizing with those who feel that way?

Thanks for watching this, so I don't have to. Yes, Andrew, this is real life in Mr Obama's wannabe socialist utopia. There's an unfortunate conflict between this reality and real reality, that's all. Mr Murphy tells us that there is no escape from this socialist reality, other than a slightly less socialist reality - hopefully he is wrong.

Homer Simpson and Pres. Obama are both from Illinois. Coincidence? I think not.

(Edit: Well, I'm assuming Springfield of Illinois though I know there's some doubt as to where the show takes place.  Just go with it...)

Cas Balicki: Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide,
No escape from reality
Open your eyes, Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy,
Because I'm easy come, easy go, Little high, little low,

James Lileks: (snip) He's assuming everyone in the room speaks the same tongue, and knows he is using the opposition's language sarcastically. It's the sort of thing you do among friends, and apparently he regards the press as a group that will display some rote antagonism as their roles require, but shares the same precepts. (snip)  · Jul 11 at 9:58pm

And he would be correct. Score one for El Suave Teleprompter.

The White House press corps are giving sychophancy a bad name.
