I couldn't sleep last night, mostly because my husband couldn't sleep last night. I was online and found it interesting how many people couldn't sleep. They were e-mailing me, posting on Facebook, tweeting. Over on the Member feed this morning, many posts begin with people remarking on how they couldn't sleep.

Is this the conservative version of rioting?

If so, even with decreased productivity the day after, it would be fitting that our version requires less clean-up.

True! My LinkedIn connections have been firing up the normally staid and business focused discussion boards with outrage. Even the strict CFOs are upset and probably did not sleep. Tomorrow we will be back to discussing how a CFO adds value.

My niece, away at college in North Carolina, remarked that the police were called in to maintain order at her dormitory due to chaotic celebrants.  I suggested that had Romney won, the police would still have been called in to maintain order, due to chaos committed by...the same people.

Conservatives clean up after themselves, if it's even necessary.  Libs just riot.

Lack of sleep hit me, too. I'd just get settled down and a wave of thought would kick me back awake.

If we were able to sleep through the bad stuff, we'd be liberals.

How a CFO adds value - now there's a topic!  Answer: by knowing the numbers and having the data.  When you have correct information, you can make decisions based on that.  Otherwise, it is just guesswork at best. (This is going to be my hobby horse today.)

We know that fewer voters came out for Romney than they did for McCain.  We have that piece of data and need to drill down to find out why this was the case.  Before there can be analysis, we need more data.  If we start analyzing now, we will only be reinforcing our own preconceptions and not doing ourselves any good.

So, let's find the problem(s) and start to fix them.

I too couldn't sleep, so I started to research on relocating to Texas.

Some of that would surely be the way lower  military vote.

I didn't sleep the greatest last night either, but I did get a few hours of solid sleep before waking up early. My poor mother, though, barely slept for an hour and a half.

Nice post. Couldn't sleep either. Wondering about financial security in the future, since the economy will probably continue to limp along--is a federal government job the best strategy?

Wondering, too, about Cardinal George's comment that his successor as bishop of Chicago will probably die in jail and his successor's successor will die as a martyr. Surely too dark?

Finally, wondering about how people made it through the depression. Yes, it finally ended, but oh, so much unnecessary suffering!

Nope, little sleep here.  (And I have parent conferences all afternoon and evening, after teaching all morning.)  I asked my husband to say a prayer with me before I got out of bed, finally.  That helped some.

We cant riot, we have to work the next morning.  That said, this is not going to be the most productive day.  People here look shellshocked.

Probably not.

I also had a very difficult time getting to sleep last night. I'm filled with worries, anxiety and dread for my own prospects and the nation's. I did finally sleep for 3 or 4 hours. But was up at 5:00 AM.

I am grateful to God that I was tired enough to fall asleep fairly normally.

Those of us who are intensely opposed to the HHS Mandate have nowhere to go.  Those of us who look for impartial justice according to the standards of the Constitution have had their hopes dashed.  Obama will be able to appoint political judges to vote the way he wants, just as Roosevelt did, and we "discovered" that the Constitution was hostile to the public expression of Christian faith at the same time as it welcomed the "free speech" of pornography.  Those of us who wanted to preserve the sacred doctor-patient relationship that has been the centerpiece of American medicine now have to look forward to bureaucratic medicine.  Those of us who are ill, frail or unborn have to look forward to becoming mortal victims of the HHS Death Panel.  Those of us who understand that prosperity comes from entrepreneur and virtuous business leadership now can count on the mob exacting its revenge on the "rich" through the instrumentality of the IRS.  Those of us who value truth in journalism can count on a strongly endorsed "drive-by media" to ignore politically incorrect stories.

I couldn't sleep either. Fell asleep at midnight, up at 2 and 3, up for good at 5:30. A wreck today. Had to give three lectures, and it amazes me that I managed.

So is it safe for me to stay in newly solid red North Carolina? Or should I look at a job that just got advertised in Texas?

Couldn't sleep either, but I watched a show on Netflix. Enough's enough.

"Blame Romney,"  "Blame the RINOs," "Blame the Weather," "Blame the stars," has already started. But the fault lies not in our stars but ourselves.

Whatever can be said of Romney's deficiencies (and for myself I think he did about as good a job as anyone could have), clearly there is something afoot when candidates of great merit and no gaffes of which I am aware like Mia Love, Allen West, Josh Mandel, Tommy Thompson, and Scott Brown are defeated. Vox populi has declared for the Leftist vision of America.

Not conservative enough? Insensitive to women and minorities? It's not that the Republican Party isn't ready for women and minority participation, the country simply has decided it will take a Leftist white male in preference to a conservative minority male or female.

Here's how some Conservatives riot:  DJIA, NASDAQ, and S&P500 all down 2.5% on heavy volume and counting.

Two bright spots:  Smith & Wesson and Sturm Ruger are going through the roof!

Some combination of all of the above, but as I'd originally feared, before once again, ala Lucy with the football and Charlie Brown-ishly going along to get along once more (Bush I, Bush II, McCain; I even used my old wire from my 2004 Bush/Cheney yard sign to replace the one provided with my Romney one), it was a rejection of GOP establismentarianism. That last category is all encompassing, and the real reason Romney's turnout was even less than for McCain. The GOP base knew they were being ignored, so they returned the favor.
