According to Haaretz, the Jerusalem Post and Ynet, Iran has cut -- possibly completely suspended -- funding for Hamas because Hamas has failed to demonstrate sufficient public support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The absence of any pro-Assad rallies at Palestinian refugee camps in Syria has apparently not gone unnoticed in Teheran.

Poor devils.

Huh.

Rats and sinking ships come to mind, both in Iran and Gaza.

I would like to think that, anyway.

Hunker down, Judith, it's going to a tough time ahead, but maybe this is a glimmer on the horizon.

Iran just yanking their chain probably, whenever Hamas is useful to the Iranians, the money pipe will start flowing again.

Sadly, they'll be back in bed together any minute. Of course, now that Teheran is even more transparently seen backing a classic Middle East strong man/butcher over a populist revolt in the fashion of the Western crusader boogie-men, the Arab street must be as conflicted as Woody Allen's psychiatrist.

Things appear to be heating up. Best of luck over there.

For what it's worth, Judith. The pro-AKP press has taken a distinctly more hostile stance toward Iran lately. The pro-AKP press is not monolithic, neither is the AKP, and anyone who says he's sure what's happening is exaggerating.
