In The Meantime ...
Another protest is being planned. This one, scheduled for March 3 outside the White House, is being organized by Anjem Choudary, the fellow who got into it with Sean Hannity earlier this month.
The former leader of outlawed group Islam4UK told the Daily Star 'we expect thousands to come out and support us.' ...
Mr Choudary told the newspaper: 'The event is a rally, a call for the Sharia, a call for the Muslims to rise up and establish the Islamic state in America.'
However, whether the [speakers] will be able to enter the U.S. ... remains to be seen. Even a tourist visa requires applicants to answer questions on whether they have been involved in acts of terrorism or plan to commit crimes in the U.S.
I wonder if you folks think this will actually happen. If it does, what kinds of numbers do you expect? What kind of coverage?

Re: In The Meantime ...
The more interesting question is what Mr. Obama will do. He can't seem to keep his yap shut on a purely local matter like Wisconsin unions. Do you think his advisers have the sense to see that Choudary is denied a visa?

Re: In The Meantime ...
No big deal. No doubt Mr Choudary's event will be largely secular.

Re: In The Meantime ...
Sounds like there's a good chance that this guy's buddies aren't going to be let into the country. Do we still have sedition laws? I'm pretty sure we're allowed First Amendment rights as long as we don't use them for an overthrow of the government. And that is what "bring Sharia to the US" means. I mean, "One day, the flag of Islam will fly over the White House", would get my attention. Time to get our John Adams on.

I bet we'll be lectured so as to prevent all those violent anti-Muslim backlashes that kill so many across the nation.
Turn out? Two digits.

Re: In The Meantime ...
Hopefully there'll be lots of attendees and lots of coverage, since the more these folks demonstrate their true intentions, the more they hurt their cause. The gullible West's biggest vulnerability is the Islamists' stealth and misrepresentation of their intentions.
And Paules is right: Very interesting to see how Obama reacts. If he's smart, he'd see it as a perfect "Sister Soljah moment."
Re: In The Meantime ...
Even if a crowd shows up, the media will ignore the event. Consider how CBS treated the sexual assault on Lara Logan. Dozens of Egyptian men, shouting, "Jew, Jew, Jew," as they assaulted her for twenty to thirty minutes . . . . and not a peep from CBS about what had happened. You see it does not fit the narrative.

There's a mosque just up the street on Mass. Ave. I would expect at least a few hundred.

Re: In The Meantime ...
This has to be a story from The Onion.
If the FBI can show up at Connie Corleone's wedding and take down license plates, then surely they can do the same at this kind of rally. Frankly, this might be a good thing. The FBI can call it Operation Flypaper.

Re: In The Meantime ...
It is tough to get good numbers, the greater Washington Metropolitan Area effectively includes Baltimore, pushes 3 million just in the District and adjacent counties, with bedroom communities up to Frederick and down to Fredericksburg. DC was a target for directed immigration by political Islam since at least the Carter Administration, with, at least, significant Nation of Islam and foreign diplomatic presence prior to that. And then there are the exchange students with a dozen plus large universities in the area.
And if they call out the dogs, they could augment from Philly, on a recent trip Islam had landmarks on at least one major campus map up there. And there's always New York. A quick search turns up 10 mosques this side of Baltimore, and that is a low count.
A turnout of 10,000+ would not shock me. Lots of camera fodder.

What's particularly interesting is that such demonstrations are old hat in the UK, but somewhat new to North America. (There's a lot of backstory to that). England has essentially lost the existential battle. I think the US is a different nation in character and bearing.

It will be a great opportunity for moderate muslims to demonstrate their opposition to sharia law. We stand to learn much either way.

Re: In The Meantime ...
I'm sure Tens of People will show up.
Media Coverage if any will make it appear as if Thousands have shown up, but the message will be about Multiculturalism of some such of thier Pet Issues, rather than what it is really about.
As to Obama's speech;
"Today is a Great Day for America. Religious Freedom and Multiculturalism have come together in Washington."
"Some would say" <Insert here a quotation of something No One has ever said.>
“Let me be perfectly clear” <This is the place for obfuscation about the what the Protest is about and any position he has regarding such.>
“Make no mistake about” <Here is where he says the Exact Opposite of what he said while being perfectly clear.>
“I reject the false choice that some would,” <Again, reiterate quotations that No One has ever said and Positions that No One has ever taken.>
“I have ordered my team to.” <Doesn't matter what actions you fill in here, they aren't going to do it.>

Agree.
Coverage of the protest has already been written. Orwellian newspeak theory dictates the tribal media would hastily present him as the leading reason why we have nothing to fear: he is but a desultory Mohammedan to be ignored.
Because the Religion of Peace poses no threat and Anjem Choudary’s jihad might be construed as one—if what he said were representative—accordingly, what he says is not true, and therefore, the Religion of Peace poses no threat.

Re: In The Meantime ...
Well, regardless of what size demonstration is expected, there should be as big a counterdemonstration as possible. I unfortunately can't get to D.C. on March 3, but if I could, I certainly would.

Re: In The Meantime ...
Oh, and by the way, isn't a call for Muslims to rise up and create a Shari'a-based Islamic state in America a call for the violent overthrow of the Constitutional government of the United States of America? Don't we call that sedition?

Re: In The Meantime ...
Doubt permits would be issued let alone some of these folk even being allowed to get off a plane here. Then again, why should any measure of sanity take hold now...
A counter demonstration could be interesting, save all involved would be branded rascists....
Aside from the fact that Islam is not a race, how did this come about anyway...

I think the violent element will not be in play until the Supreme Court 'interprets' the constitution.

If folks want an Islamic State here... There is surely enough surplus desert in the SouthWest to make them feel at home. Good luck with that premise...
