Okay, listen, I'm here ALL THE TIME, Ms. Haig. But, if you mean "awake" as in able to write complete sentences about thoughtful subjects -- or thoughtful sentences about complete subjects -- I'm not that ladyfriend. I could, however, field suggestions on what to do with my kids for the next 12 hours when there are at least that many hours of chores to be done.

Well, we could see what they think about Andrew Sullivan, couldn't we?

I"m only awake because my two analog alarm clocks insisted on turkey and giblets before 7:00 a.m. Even if I gulped another cup of coffee, I don't think I'd be up to discussing Andrew Sullivan. Ricochet should be flattered. I checked it before looking at the Sunday circular for Target.

Clara, the eldest: "Sully? Like from Monsters, Inc.?" (He's the good monster, if that helps the conversation.)

My cat Daisy: "I don't like beagles."

Magdalena likes Bugles.

Daisy likes bugs!
This is what happens when chicks take over the political debate.

"Bus" is Paddy's favorite word. Swear.

Plus, I take full responsibility for the mindlessness of this comment thread. No one would doubt that you, dear Claire, are up for a feisty and intellectual debate on all topics at all hours. Me? Not so much.....

We're honored!
Re Andrew Sullivan: This isn't going to be about "epistemic closure," is it?

Who is The Logo, anyway?

"I thought Oz was a great Head," said Dorothy.
"And I thought Oz was a lovely Lady," said the Scarecrow.
"And I thought Oz was a terrible Beast," said the Tin Woodman.
"And I thought Oz was a Ball of Fire," exclaimed the Lion.
"No, you are all wrong, " said the little man, meekly. "I have been making believe."

Well, I'm not related (in my long form) to the "Restricted" notice, as the MPAA's trademark attorneys suggested a couple of months ago. I don't see the resemblance.

What Andrew Sullivan misunderstands is, "the Great American Experiment" was, and is, for the benefit of the "ordinary man" (and woman) as well. It's not just a plaything for "intellectuals" like Barack, and himself. The ordinary man--who might appreciate the things that Gov. Sarah Palin brings to the table, like blue-collar commonsense, or a passion for liberty--is just as much an expert on what America ought to be as Andrew is. What exactly does Andrew bring to the table again, aside from his obstetrics expertise? I forget.

So this is what happens around here when I'm sleeping in on a Sunday morning. Interesting.
