I don't want to be a nag, but ...
Guys, I want you to pay more attention to what's going on in these videos. I know a lot of people back home feel, as Rob Long does (that was you Rob, right?) that something about news from the Middle East just makes you want to turn the page. I get that. It's understandable that Americans feel burnt out. But we don't have that luxury. We're a superpower. Our future is inextricably bound up with the future of this region.
The people I'm talking to in these videos have just staged an absolutely brilliant dark op against our two closest allies here, Israel and Turkey. They have brought our friends to the verge of war and may well push them over the edge. The Mavi Marmara incident could be this region's Reichstag Fire. Yes, it looks that serious, from my vantage point.
I fear they'll get away with it. I'm afraid this group will succeed in turning this area into the Heart of Darkness.
I think these videos, taken together, very clearly show the nature of the collusion between radical Islamists here and the Left, particularly the European Left. The Free Gaza movement has seized control of the organs of European and Middle Eastern foreign policy and is now setting the agenda. They are not your friends.
In these videos, they describe their world view, the new techniques they're using to achieve their ambitions, and how useful these techniques are (e.g., you don't have to wait for pesky things like "elections" to get what you want). This kind of operation is a lot more sophisticated than old-school terrorism, and more terrifying, because it's a lot more likely to work.
It's making me insane that people don't see what's going on. Can it really be that they'll just get away with it?

Re: I don't want to be a nag, but ...
First, I want to express my appreciation for Claire's hard work. It's important that someone provide the world with a true picture, be it ever so Byzantine, of what's happening in the eastern Mediterranean.
Philosophically speaking this is a hard circle to square. What do reactionary rabbis, an Islamist political party in Turkey, and utopian Europeans have in common? Each believes in a Weltanschauung that is demonstrably false. The rabbis know that man is not perfectible, but perhaps redeemable if only we turn back the clock. The Islamists believe that the world is perfectible, but only under the authority of a 7th century interpretation of Islam. Secular Europeans believe the world is perfectible if only we would abandon religion and replace it with a utopian anti-religion. And, of course, the only thing that stands in the way of all three is Israel! The mind boggles.
What happens when an immovable object is met by irresistible force? This will not end well. I suppose sweeping up the shards will keep people busy for awhile. *Sigh*

Dare we hope that the NSA has already grabbed your videos off the humble Ricochet site and are already deep underground re-mapping our global strategic outlook? Seriously Claire, this is excellent work and I hope it bubbles up to receive the attention it deserves.

Re: I don't want to be a nag, but ...
Claire, have you sent these links to Strategy Page or Long War Journal, even Roger L. Simon, so that you have a broader group of national security people thinking about this?
You can do this- we can't. You have a name- if I passed this on to Scott (the most Israel-oriented principal) at Powerline, he wouldn't even read the e-mail. If you did, those parties would take it seriously because you are a famous writer and international woman of mystery.
Re: I don't want to be a nag, but ...
As it happens, I'm waiting for Roger Simon's call right now. (As usual, we have time difference issues.)
Re: I don't want to be a nag, but ...
Thank you, Claire, a truly disturbing view of Jews working against the best interest of other Jews and how the fight against modernity is going to end either in modernity or something terrifyingly counter to that.
Re: I don't want to be a nag, but ...
I'm convinced. Claire, I promise not to just blip over Mideast stories in the near term. Those are truly creepy videos.

Posted the blog on facebook. This needs to be on Big Journalism and Pajamas Media. Saw your Thatcher v. Palin column linked on HotAir. Good for you!
