Soon, they will be the ones pulling the cart.

Heidi and Spencer (MTV's The Hills) are broke! Heidi and Spencer are broke! The only reason I hesitate to believe such long awaited news is that it comes from the two biggest liars the media has ever produced in a way too enjoyable article from the Daily Beast. I guess it's credible because the incentive to lie about this is less than the incentives to lie about their "successful" period from 2006 to 2009, which is all they did. I know people are going to post here how they are above caring about these two or "never heard of 'em" but the lesson here is important and delivered on a shiny platter of schadenfreude.

These are two monsters that rode a fame bandwagon with absolutely nothing to back it up, and gave false and destructive hope to other decently looking sloths to follow in their footsteps. Try raising kids to work hard when the media shoves these two in their faces all day. They actually influenced youths to just be media parasites and get plastic surgery and fancy clothes to "invest in yourself," your "brand."

Great if your brand is repulsive reality star from a nauseating reality show. Did I watch it? Of course I did. That's my problem though, not yours. Maybe that's why this day means more to me. To quote Heidi Montag (which is Nordic for Monday, and I don't like Mondays), "I don't regret one thing, but if I could go back I wouldn't do it." That should be on Speidi's tomb stone, if the kids still have those these days.

Don't sugar coat it Joe - tell us how you REALLY feel.

I had to see these people in my neighborhood as well, which was hard to stomach.

What do you think the ratio is? My guess, 50% of anonymous people yearn for fame and 50% of those that have it long for anonymity.

I dunno, Joe. The thing ends with both of them insisting, emphatically even, that they were wrong. My respect and sympathy for both of them just went up quite a bit. But I admit I'm a sucker for a good redemption story, perhaps because I've been in need of redemption so often myself.

My only adherence to Keynes concerns fame and the desire for it: in the long run we are all dead.

I have no idea who these people are, and I think I'll leave it that way.

I'd be the first to forgive them, but I don't believe them actually. The more I think of it, the more I think they were begging for some coverage and the author said, "the only thing people would want to hear about you would be that you are broke and you're sorry." So they said, "ok then, we're broke and we're sorry."

Don't be so hard on her Joe, she's only quoting Yogi Berra!
