Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
Since we're all adults here, I'm going to go ahead and state the obvious: Claire, you're hot. There I said it.
Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
Chromatically speaking, Scott, I have just gone from orange to grey--a marked diminishment in heat.
I have a feeling I'm going to cherish this comment thread.

I'm sure Rob is working your script as we speak.

So that's what did it!
Claire, just as with the orange picture, this one makes you look about 24. I think you need to post one taken just after staying up all night tweeting, without any make-up, close-up, in full sunlight, wearing a baggy sweatshirt.
(We're just protecting Scott from his animal instincts)

I appreciate the concern, Duane, but I'm in complete control, and I've got my own hottie right here at home.

Only if you regard the phrase "Turkish Delight" as a complement.

Complement to what?

Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
Well, no more "Orange Crush."
It's just amazing how much more attractive are the Ladies of the Right than those of the left.
All them women getting surgery when all they have to do is just get their mind Right.

Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
All these comments provide nice complements to my initial compliment.

Why the Jujyfruit link? I don't get it.

Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
Beauty, brains, class and talent is quite the combination, but seven cats is a deal breaker.

I wouldn't go that far. More than once, I've pursued a beautiful liberal and quickly regretted the decision.

Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
On most parts of this site we are shamelessly patting each other (and ourselves) on the back for our civility and manners. Which brings us here, where we ruminate on the hotness of one Claire Berlinski. Absolutely shameless.
But since you all brought it up, I will move that we make it a unanimous declaration. (And at my age, that's the most movement you will get out of me all day.)
And something tells me that while Claire is cherishing every compliment, secretly she may be happy that she is a continent away from the likes of all of us. Armed with cats. And she knows how to use them...

Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
All you oink-oink types are disgusting.
I like Claire's writing for organs such as City Journal. Particularly the pieces on corruption and the longer one on Turkish politics going back to describe how the corruption of Turgut Ozal's cronies led to Erdogan.
There. I've restored the class and feminism of this forum.
Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
Duane, I defy you to find a 42-year-old woman whose feminism is so ardent that she wishes to see put an end to a discussion about whether she really looks that young. As for civility and good manners, well, I think the French are absolutely right. For once. It is a breach of manners to fail to flatter middle-aged women, and the older the woman, the more the flattery is socially obligatory. I congratulate you: You've all obviously been well brought-up.
I'll settle your questions. It's actually very easy to find photos of me without make-up, close-up, in full sunlight, and wearing a baggy sweatshirt, because this is the way I am pretty much 364 days of the year. In reality, I almost never wear makeup. It just runs the moment you start to sweat, you know? And everything I wear ends up covered in fur or barf, so there's just no point to wearing anything that can't be thrown right in the wash.
Here you go. As a bonus, I'm covered in paint, and I really need to wash my hair.

Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
Nice try Claire but your combination of beauty and brains shines through your futile attempts to diminish - add to that the adventure/self assurance in picking Machista Instanbul as your base and you have a pretty terrific combo. By the way, 42 is only old to women - for most guys it means you have lived long enough and experienced enough to be truly interesting as well as good looking.

Re: I Couldn't Take it Anymore
If (God forbid) Rubber Duckie were not around (generally, I mean- today she is off in London watching a mindless musical on the West End), I wouldn't be able to keep company with any female under 50- I'd feel like a pedophile.
Ever since I saw The Graduate when I was a very callow youth, I've believed that women who take care of themselves are at their irresistible best after 40 (I dropped it a decade given the thread topic, but when I was 15 that was a big deal). When Rubber Duckie is in her shorts and tank top out in her garden with the sweat dripping off, she is fortunate that my years of practice have taught me self-control (in public). Thomas PM Barnett blogged something similar when he was at the computer while his wife was at the other end of the room on the treadmill.
