The LA Times reports, via Hot Air:

Due to the overwhelming sympathetic response from the public following the near-fatal shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson on Saturday, her office tonight released two photos from her hospital room in the University Medical Center. Due to the severity of her head injuries, neither picture shows the face of the congresswoman, who is breathing on her own now. Doctors issued a promising prognosis for her recovery on Tuesday.

And here are the pictures:

Words really do fail, but these pictures made me step back and realize how trivial the rabidly partisan coverage, from both the right and the left, of this tragedy is.

I hope the angels are watching over Giffords' bed, and cheering her and her husband on through this.

This is the real story. It hurts where it counts.

God bless the family of Mr. and Mrs. Giffords.

It would be great if anyone who wanted to write on this subject would take a look at these or similar photos before starting to write.

Please direct me to examples of partisian right wing coverage.  For the most part what I see from the right is people such as Sara Palin and Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, etc., defending themselves against rank partisian speculation with no basis of fact, ie. the County Sherrif.  So help me out with a link or two.

I agree with Peter's comments. I know of no conservative blaming liberal rhetoric for the horrific violence committed in Tucson. On the other hand, liberals (both in the media and in government) are doing their best to politicize this tragedy to advance their own ideological ends.

I suppose that some on the right have fallen victim to the old "I know you are but what am I" retort to the Left's accusations of violent rhetoric and public incitement...it was an all too human and inevitable reaction. Not all, but many. They have been, perhaps, more Aaron Burr than George Washington when it comes to responding to unwarranted insults.
