The father of Tyrone Woods, who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack at the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, spoke publicly for the first time about meeting Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton days after the attack. From The Weekly Standard:

About meeting Obama: “When [Obama] came over to our little area” at Andrew Air Force Base, says Woods, “he kind of just mumbled, you know, ‘I’m sorry.’ His face was looking at me, but his eyes were looking over my shoulder like he could not look me in the eye. And it was not a sincere, ‘I’m really sorry, you know, that you’re son died,’ but it was totally insincere, more of whining type, ‘I’m sorry.’”

Woods says that shaking President Obama’s hands at his son’s memorial service was “like shaking hands with a dead fish.”

“It just didn’t feel right,” he says of his encounter with the commander in chief. “And now that it’s coming out that apparently the White House situation room was watching our people die in real time, as this was happening,” Woods says, he wants answers on what happened—and why there was no apparent effort to save his son’s life.

About meeting Clinton: “Well, this is what Hillary did,” Woods continues. “She came over and, you know, did the same thing—separately came over and talked with me. I gave her a hug, shook her hand. And she did not appear to be one bit sincere—at all. And you know, she mentioned that the thing about, we’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video. That was the first time I had even heard about anything like that.”

And from other reports, we are told about his meeting with Joe Biden:

Woods said Biden came over to his family and asked in a “loud and boisterous” voice, “Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?”

“Are these the words of someone who is sorry?” said Woods.

Holy Crap!   Did Hillary just tear up the 1st Amendment?   If she really said the government is going to arrest the guy who made a video, that should be front page news everywhere!!!!

On the assumption that everything here is true, then Joe Biden is even more of an embarassment than I could possibly imagine.

Barack Obama doesn't like people. Hillary Clinton doesn't care about people. Joe Biden is congenitally inappropriate.

Suggests at some level as well that they believed the video was a root cause, which makes them less cynical, but much more naive in a way that does not reflect well on our chief diplomat or our commander in chief.

This suggests to me more that they were, at that time, fully commited to the narrative (read lie) that the video was the root cause.  I would suggest they didn't want to waste this crisis as an opportunity to restrict 1st amendment freedoms.  That is where the narrative (read lie) came from.

You're probably right. (Nice handle by the way.)

Woods and Doherty died because they responded to the SOS emails sent by Stevens at the Consulate. The same email sent to numerous in the state department. Yet 2 man with 1 machine gun died doing the right  thing while their commanders stood by and watched. No wonder they attributed to a YouTube video. What can they say? " Your son died because we screwed up" ?

The Standard buried the lede on that one, big time.  Hillary's statement ought to be the top story nationwide.  Not only does it show a dangerous willingness to abrogate the First Amendment, it's a neon sign indicating how thoroughly the administration had committed to the "it's the video" narrative... which we now know--and the administration damn well knew this from almost the moment of the attack--held no water whatsoever.

Actually, the guy who made the video was arrested September 28, and I believe remains in jail (on the premise that he's a flight risk).  Haven't heard much about him since.  This is the most recent info I can find on a quick search.

So if she said it, and it was done ... well you can bet that the media is not going to touch it.

Obama's response is, sadly, what I would have expected from him. Clinton's comment is frightening. Not "we will get the people who killed your son," but "we will get the guy who criticized the beliefs of the people who killed your son." And while you expect Biden to say something stupid, the "balls" of the deceased are not what you normally talk about at a funeral.

Nothing like three pathological liars faking condolences.    Can we hit women yet?  I know the football players and the president have this commercial against it  and everything in my makeup says  no, but Clinton deserves a slap.  Obama deserves water boarding and Biden deserves an involuntary psych hold.  These people disgust me.

“Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?”

I can't believe that this is the first thing you would say to some one who you are trying to comfort about the loss of a loved one. Biden is such a {expletive}.

Mollie,

This is one of the recurring themes coming out of the debates.  We are finally seeing the 'real Obama'.  Here is the theme with  Peggy Noonan and Charles Krauthammer.

At the same time we are seeing the 'real Mitt'.

Crushing Obama on Nov 7 can't take this father's pain away but it would be poetic justice.

Regards,

Jim

Biden is a fool, but his clumsy remarks at least acknowledged the courage Woods displayed:

Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. Consulate . . .. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to "stand down," according to sources familiar with the exchange.  . . .

Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the Consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. . . . [They] evacuated those who remained at the Consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied.

After fighting into and out of the consulate to rescue those trapped there, Woods apparently died manning a machine gun on CIA Annex roof.

I watched (or, rather, heard) the father of Mr Woods on Glenn Beck last nite (OK, I am a conspiracy nut). It was unbearable to listen to.

And now I read today that one of the American heroes was up on the roof, with a laser aimed on the, um, "video protesters" firing mortars, calling for a laser-guided bomb or Specter gunship ..... either would do the job... silence ensued.

This will go down as the worst dereliction of duty in history of any Commander in Chief, his deputy, and his Secretary of State. Hardly surprising they couldn't look the father straight in the eye.
