How Did You Find Ricochet and Why Did You Join?
I always wonder about this.
How did you find Ricochet? Randomly? A link through somewhere else? Through a friend?
And why did you join? And what tipped it for you? What was the thing that made you join?
I'll answer first:
I'm a podcast junkie and sometimes I'll get the idea to search for something and then download the stuff it hits on. I think I was in a Tom Sowell mood after listening to an episode of UK and so I searched in iTunes for him and hit the Ricochet Podcast. (If he was never on the podcast then maybe it was Steyn or VDH.) I listened to the podcast for like six months, but I stayed away from the web site because it was no fun to not comment. Then when my birthday came around, my sister asked what I wanted as a gift and I told her a Ricochet membership.
And there it is.

Saw the Ricochet podcast on NRO, listened to several (One was enough to ensure I listened to all!) then decided I needed the ability to comment on what I was hearing, and listen to other podcasts, so just spent the money on an annual subscription. My wife was angry I spent any money, until she saw the site and listened to a podcast, then she was converted.

I joined up just so that I could get Delingpole's podcasts after he had been trailing them on his Telegraph blog (one of my favourite bits of reading). When I got here I discovered so much more and have become compulsively addicted to your election from afar.
One thing that I have learned since coming here is that the issues at play in the US and the UK are almost identical at the moment - I don't think that one could have said that in the past. Clearly the Democrats have now brought you European socialism - or is it that that was always the case but I hadn't been looking closely enough before?

Before I began as an editor, I joined as a contributor. Basically I'm a huge fan of both Peter's and Rob's. From the moment I heard about the project, I wanted on.

Paul Rahe. Someone sent me a link to his Feb. 2011 piece, "Marriage -- and Children." It's still the best piece I've ever read on that subject--and it was the best possible introduction to Ricochet.

I found Ricochet via The Anchoress. I joined so I could leave an occasional comment and read what was on the Member Feed. Now I'm a Ricoholic.

Good question this time around, Fred.
I'd heard about the project, I think via NRO, very early on and followed the podcast since its edition was in the low double digits (remember when it had both a number and a 'volume'?). I was familiar with Peter's work already (moreso than Rob's). I joined a bit later when I felt the site was finding its feet and I became convinced that Ricochet was here to stay. The intial reason for joining was because it had been demonstrated that the contributor pool was going to be interesting to talk to and would take the time to interact with us, outside the normal channels of their work, in a serious way.

Steyn to the podcast, then reading the site when it eventually opened. After resisting as long as I could I eventually joined because someone was wrong on the Internet!

Mr. Lileks' blog; been reading the Bleat since... some time in high school, so late 90s?
He mentioned he was in a new thing, I subscribed to the podcast because the Diner is awesome, and I joined when they sounded desperate to get new bodies.

I found lovely Ricochet through R.J. Moeller's tweet about a Goldberg/Steyn/Long podcast. One listen and there was no going back. I then fell in love with Delingpole and got my dad hooked on his podcasts. Now, we discuss Ricochet over the phone like we used to discuss Liberty magazine every month when it was still in print.
Come for the Steyn; stay for the Delingpole (and everyone else, of course).

She is a domestic short hair. The end. Her mother was owned by a lady who had no business owning cats (or having children) and didn't spay her, her father is probably some Schenectady stray.
And, you perhaps cannot tell from that picture, but she is grey.

I listened to the podcasts. I argued politics somewhere else, and I just got sick of the poison. I didnt need or want that in my life anymore, it was making my life worse and me a worse person.
I think the final straw came when liberals tried causing trouble for conservatives at work.
Politics now is a near religious moral and personal vendetta.
