With all of the talk these last few months of Charles Murray and his book (I'm a 45 by the way), I thought of a different experiment.

How much of the US have you actually seen?  How many states have you visited (exluding layovers).  I'm talking about states where you at least spent an overnight.  I'll toss in Canadian provinces too for fun.

My sister has been to all 50, my wife just a few.

So, where do you go?  How much of America have you really seen?

I guess I prefer to be south of the Mason-Dixon. A very interesting link, by the way.

32 states.  Oddly, I've been in all the "New" states (as in Mexico, York), but have not been in any of the "North/South" states (Dakota, Carolina).  Something to discuss with my shrink.

I'm going to get to all of them sooner rather than later...

I've not seen many, but you can see the odd "U" I took.  No, I don't fear the Four Corners.  In fact I'll be visiting Utah in June for a very special reason!  I'll probably see more as well.  Maybe I'll have a C.U. Tour or something.

Bonus note:  I've driven in all those states, save New York.

All but five. I've only been to a couple of Canadian provinces, but if there was a world map showing the different countries I've been to, I might clean up.

Define "vistited." In my business I've worked in a lot of states. I have seen from the airport to the hotel, from the hotel to the arena/stadium, back to the hotel and then back to the airport. With a lot of chain restaurants in between.

43 states. Apologies in advance to those in the Upper Midwest:

Only four states to go!  My goal is to knock them out in the next three years.  I don't know that I'll bother finishing out Canada, though.  And I'm not likely to expand Mexico beyond my visit to Chihuahua.

I don't get out much...my permanent address has always been in California, and three of the six other states I lived in long enough to have mailing addresses there.

Technically I never over-nighted in South Carolina, because our hotel was in North Carolina, but where we were working was in the South state, so I counted it.

There is awesome stuff to see in Quebec, BC, and the Maritimes.  You've already visited the boring provinces.

Interesting. I limited my map to states I have actually spent some time in, rather than include states I have just driven through.

There's so much to see and so many kinds of people to meet in any state that I don't believe I know most of those well. The only states with which I'm very familiar are the Gulf Coast states, my cultural home.

My dad took my brother and me on a trip out west when we were kids. So most of what I saw there was rocks, fossils, mountains and caves. Most of my family's other field trips were within Texas (which, if we're being honest, should count as at least three states). I haven't done much exploring as an adult.

Haven't been to North Dakota, or the freak states, Alaska and Hawaii.

Did I say special reason?  I meant "special lady."
