The more I read about Obama's "magical misery tour" throughout the Midwest, the less I regret the fact that taxpayers are footing the bill.  Every time the President opens his mouth, he does his political opponents a service (cf. Franco: "Obama Explains His Entire Presidency in One Sentence").  The only thing I regret is there not being more YouTube footage of his appearances.  But thank goodness for Jake Tapper who's tweeting live from Obama's session in Alpha, Illinois.  From his Twitter feed comes this little oddity:

I'd rather tax stupidity. Much larger base to work with.

My 90 year old grandfather in law, native Texan and WWII veteran, said the rich need to "pay their fair share" the other day - it made me physically ill.

In Pointy Ball, the really important subject in life, (Go Jags!), coaches always talk up the competition before games and poor mouth their own prospects.

You know, "Wow those Falcons are really focussing on the fundamentals and we'll need to be on our best game, Sunday", kinda stuff.

In the locker room, what coaches are telling their players is, "You need to get out there and beat these guys until they give up and go home.

My observation is that Obama has come out of the locker room and is now publically telling his players to go for the opposing quarterback's knee.  He knows that that is wrong and it may not even be a good idea, as the back-up quarterback may be better, but he is ready, now, to give up on what his own team is putting on the field.

Teams that look good don't do that; that's what teams do when they are just trying to look less bad, while losing.

Most analogies are not very perfect, but I suspect this one is close.

Obama is going all in on demonizing American citizens and taking out knees.  This won't get prettier.

Liberalism is so much like a religion it is spooky.  The "rich should pay their fair share" mantra is just that, a mantra.  I don't think they really even think about what that means; just say it often enough and it will transform society.

The group that pays the most taxes in both dollars and as a percentage of their income, isn't paying their "fair share"? Can someone please explain the meaning of the word "fair" because I think I am confused?

Apparently that young man and "The One" have not read this article. Our problems can't be fixed by confiscating the wealth of high earners.

The problem is that progressives latch onto exceptional cases that conform to their beliefs, like Warren Buffett paying an effective tax rate of 15%, and extrapolate.  Don't try to confuse them with actual data.

To be fair to the President, that sounds like something I would say as a joke if somebody repeated back to me what I had previously said about some topic or another.  Are you sure he wasn't joking?

A freind who happens to be a Progressive has repeated the mantra of Keysian economics with blind faith. Seems to like the Force Multiplier concept that the money supply magically increases when the Government spends it. Think Unemployment checks and Food Stamps creating new jobs.

The fellow did recently admit that if the adopted model failed, he had nowhere to turn.

Add that Big Government is his God... The death of a lifelong Philosophy is the same as losing a God of sorts. By the way, he has a good job and will not take a dime from anyone.

If you firmly instructed your daughter not to spend more than $40, and she spent $20,000 ... and when the bill came, she lectured you on your responsibility to pay your fair share ...

I'm sorry, I can't go any further, because this mental experiment is just getting me angry at Obama  ...

By the way, if Obama raises a billion dollars for his campaign, how much of that will be donated to the poor? What will his fair share be?

And if some bonehead replies that campaign money will be exempt from fair share because it's being used for a "good" purpose ... what does that bonehead think other people will be using their income for? Why is spending money to local TV stations for lame 30-second ads considered a "good" purpose, but expanding businesses to hire more workers gets taxed?

Once there's video, we will know.  But it isn't like Jake Tapper to intentionally make Obama look bad.  Is it?

Maybe I'm giving Obama and Tapper too much credit, but you could see it as Tapper dryly reporting the joke.  I use contextual irony a lot when I write on the internets.  You're right, we'll see if there ever emerges a video.

Selfishly, only on themselves and their own families.  Whereas it is their duty assigned by the chief executive to spread it around so everyone can be better off.

Ha! That's why the rhythm of the beat gets progressively slower ... getting woozy ...

It's a commonplace in psychology:  ascribing intelligence to those who agree with you. Everyone does that.

That said, I've never had an experience quite like joining the Ricochet Grand Latte conversation and feeling like the majority of the people are smarter than I am.  This place is remarkable.
