just friends

Bert & Ernie will NOT be getting married!  Apparently they have no sexual orientation... they're just puppets!  Wow!  I really just don't know...

Wait... there was a debate last night?

What did Santorum say about this?

It appears that even at PBS on occasion sanity prevails.

Not brought to you by the letters LGBT...

Diane Ellis, Ed.

Keith Urbahn discussed this on the "Young Guns" podcast.  In addition to knowing a lot about the Middle East, Mr. Urbahn's true passion is the sexuality of puppets.

They could only get 1600 to sign on for their online petition? Put that on 4chan and the five people that care could easily get that up to their 20,000 goal.

Pretty sad when people assume two friends must be gay just because they live together and don't have girlfriends.

Though the "they're not gay, they're puppets" excuse is very weak.

Once there is no taboo against homosexuality, all same-sex friends will be suspected of it. This will make non-sexual friendships more difficult.

The Children's Television Workshop has stated repeatedly for years, every time this comes up, that they are puppets and have no sexuality.  Thankfully, they realize that you don't need to sexualize a children's educational program.  It is a sick mind that is so obsessed with forcing this agenda down people's throats that they would try to coerce an innocent puppet show into presenting inappropriate topics to small children.

I guess if they were a couple, Bert would be the neat and tidy one.

I saw this a few days ago and forwarded to my family under the subject "A rare case of rationality beating out idiotic PC indoctrination".

That line "they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation" is interesting.  Because we know at least one case of Muppets who have some preference:  Kermit and Miss Piggy.

What about the puppeteer? Enquiring minds want to know.

Somehow they couldn't just say,"They're not gay" and leave it at that. Political Correctness now even impacts the way you can and cannot talk about pieces of felt.

I always suspected that Bert was modeled after Howard Sprague of Mayberry.

And Ernie is just a human version of Kermit thee frog.

I do agree with CTWs response to this idiotic leftist agenda PC BS.

Ever notice how all the men on that show were single.  Barney and Andy had girlfriends but Goober, Floyd, Gomer Pyle, Ed Sprague not a female in sight.  Not implying they're gay just sayin.

Overall I think the Children's Television Workshop made the right call, which was, "We're not getting into this mess."

It is a rather sad state of our society when, as a generalized whole, we cannot understand a strong relationship bond between two people outside of a sexual context.

If puppets have no sexuality then explain all the goings on between Kermit and Ms. Piggy.

Different show. Miss Piggy was not on Sesame Street which is explicitly a children's educational show geared towards preparing preschoolers for school.

Not to mention Floyd's obvious man crush on Andy...and that's Howard Sprague. And btw he did date three women characters--Irene, Betty and Millie (who he almost married.)
Jack Dodson played essentially the same character in the great Peckinpah  film "The Getaway" as the Veterinarian cuckold husband of hussy Sally Struthers. He winds up hanging himself.

I get Ed Sprague and Howard Sprague mixed up all the time.  Ed Sprague played 3rd base for the Toronto Blue Jays.  My bad.  A young Sally Struthers before she gained 300 pounds and shamed us into giving money to feed starving kids was pretty easy on the eyes.  I'll have to check out "The Getaway."

Yes, you should. It's a great, gritty movie. The score features the great Toots Thielemans on harmonica (as did Midnight Cowboy, btw), who, coincidentally, composed and played on the Sesame Street theme. And so we've come full circle. Cool, huh?

Apparently, everything is about sex.  I blame Freud.

Thanks for ruining poker night, Paul.
