Hitler WAS vegetarian
Gosh, I do hate it when liberals rewrite history to suit their own perversions. For example, it used to be such fun gently teasing one's tofu-munching friends about the fact that the world's most famous vegetarian was Adolf Hitler.
But these days, they always tend to come back with the line - presumably fed to them by the Linda McCartney Bureau of Vegetarian Propaganda - that, no, Hitler wasn't vegetarian actually, not strictly so anyway, though he did have a sweet tooth, etc.
Oh yeah?
Well his personal food-taster seems to think he was a vegetarian. And she should know, shouldn't she?
Look, I've got nothing personally against vegetarianism (apart from the fact that it involves not eating meat - and as Sarah Palin says: "If God hadn't meant us to eat animals he wouldn't have made them of meat") but I do believe it important that we always cleave to the truth however ugly it may be.
So: let the teasing recommence!

Hitler was also a Socialist. They don't like being reminded if that, either.Indeed, pointing out this... Erm... What's the word? Oh yeah, FACT will get you barred from The Guardian Comments section.

Re: Hitler WAS vegetarian
I do have something against vegetarians. I don't think they're vegetarian out of concern for animals (if they were, they would also avoid the agricultural products that kill animals indirectly).
When I hear someone say, "I'm a veagan," I take it the same way as the hipster who doesn't listen to this or that band because it's "too mainstream". The message is that "meat (or mainstream music) may be good enough for you rubes, but it's not good enough for my refined tastes."

Hitler and Paul McCartney are vegetarians, perhaps of slightly different pedigrees.
Hitler and Obama are socialists, but do have differing positions on how that plays out on the world's stage. Hitler being more aggressive globally, Obama using drone strikes to address his image.
Croesus and Biden hoard gold, but because Biden has to list charitable contributions on his tax form, we know that Biden is a charitable cheapskate. Do you think Biden eats cauliflower? Do you care?

Not only that, but it takes more acres of land to produce organic food, and more acres of farmland means more natural habitats destroyed. If you really cared about animals, you would swear off organic food, too.

Technically, picking the fruit (pictured above) does not kill the plants. However, in my vegan cooking, I kill many a Onion and garlic plants regularly :-D.

Dogs didn't like him, or at least his German Shepherd, Blondi, preferred to sit near other people at dinner. Non-vegetarians had better table scraps.

Re: Hitler WAS vegetarian
Hitler was a vegetarian, and St. Francis of Assisi wasn't. Go figure.
And Frank Zappa said tobacco was his favorite vegetable. I don't smoke, but if I do turn vegan that's the path I'm taking in the hope that the clouds of second-hand smoke will drive away annoying busybodies.

Re: Hitler WAS vegetarian
One of the most interesting things I have ever read is Melville's description of what it was like to live among cannibals. I think it's in Typee and it's clear that these islanders were meat deficient and that their love for "long meat" was nearer to a kind of lust that they tried to hide from westerners. It was a guilty pleasure for them and mostly done by the men of the tribe.
(I thought I would add this to spice up this post.)
