Costco is having a great sale on one-year supplies of dehydrated and freeze-dried food. Definitely an essential component of your apocalypse-preparedness kit.

You will all rue and regret your snarky insolence when the heavy stuff goes down. Don't come crawling to me begging for ammo or a can of sardines.

Re: Hey Claire, Forget the Canned Tuna!
Well, I've got all that. But if I run out of organic chutney, willya trade me some for a cup of gluten-free waffle mix?

Let Me know when Twinkies go on sale. They have a shelf life of like 27 years.
Re: Hey Claire, Forget the Canned Tuna!
Aren't Twinkies always on sale? You get a lot of calories for your buck with them puppies.

Just wait until you get your first metabolism downshift, Ms. Slender and Lithsome. You'll be spending an hour on the Stairmaster for each of those delicious little treats.
Re: Hey Claire, Forget the Canned Tuna!
It's the photo that's got me puzzled. Did anyone else look at that and think, "That only looks like enough groceries to feed a medium-sized dinner party?" How much does that actually expand when you add water?

Re: Hey Claire, Forget the Canned Tuna!
The answer is: an astonishing amount. We tend to forget just how much water there is in everything we normally consume, and the dehydrating, freeze-drying, and vacuum-packing technology today is amazing. Seriously.
My critique of the kit, on the other hand, is very simple: it doesn't appear to include coffee, and purports to be adequate for a year, so the makers are simply delusional.

Re: Hey Claire, Forget the Canned Tuna!
Anybody else tempted to calculate a year's grocery budget to see if they might want to give it a shot just to save money? I live alone in a small apartment and I never entertain. $800 for a year's worth of groceries! Why not?
