Since I figure no one can stop me now, I may as well come clean with it. While you guys were sleeping, I took over Ricochet. It was surprisingly easy to do! Now that I control the Twitter feed, pretty much the last remaining check on my power is gone. Don't worry, though, I'm doing it for democracy. I figure if I say that often enough, the West will keep congratulating me for it, no matter what's really going on.

Oh, I love a good putsch! You have my full support, Claire...unless there's a counter-insurgency.

Claire Berlinski, Ed.

What are you doing awake, Pat? This is disagreeable, you seem like someone who might put up a fight. Wait, I know! Would you like a nice government contract? Pipelines, construction? There's enough grease for every friendly palm, if you get my drift.

The Twitter feed? Curses! Now you control Ricochet's outlet for incoherent drunken late night illiteracy? You leave me nicheless.

Off topic, but it looks like we have a set of commonly used Ricochet words forming. I've already seen the words "putsch" and "squish" used much more in Ricochet than anywhere in normal life. I guess certain conversations and contributors have gotten everyone in the habit of saying those words (kind of like the overuse of the word "situation" in normal conversation by the cast of Jersey Shore) (yes, I admit, even in Japan, I have not missed a single episode of both seasons of Jersey Shore).

I always knew Claire had a thing for Al Haig.

This is great news. I've always been suspicious of the old guard and have been secretly hoping that you would take over. I assume that my loyalty will be rewarded.

ps. I'm not so sure about that Sajak guy.

Certain words and concepts have a resonance with people who think alike. Even so, I would prefer "squish" be replaced with "squid." At least "squid" is a noun.

Claire Berlinski, Ed.: "What are you doing awake, Pat?"

Pat like myself is probably a morning person. My mental clarity peaks early, and it's downhill for the rest of the day. Curiously, I also retain the last dream of my nightly REM cycle. Last night I met WFB in my dreamworld! I had the clarity to ask him which was more expensive, owning a yacht or running for political office. He just laughed. I must be a conservative down to the depths of my psyche!

Fellow Ricochetans, I need your help. I was bundled onto a plane last night. Today I find myself locked in a hotel room somewhere in flyover country.

Claire must be stopped.

There isn't much time. She may already be battling Glenn Beck for control of the Tea Party.

Relax, George. You will find coffee and muffins underneath the microwave. Hope you don't mind instant. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Claire Berlinski, Ed.: What are you doing awake, Pat?

It has evolved that one of my duties is to arise with the kids for school, and to provide breakfast and pack lunch. I'm getting way too old for this.

Agreed. Though I haven't used "squish" here, I hereby forswear the use of "putsch." (Besides which, I probably misused it; I think it implies a takeover by force, and Claire would never be involved in something like that. Would she?)

Pat Sajak ... I think it implies a takeover by force, and Claire would never be involved in something like that...

"Putsch" is the German word for overthrow and will be forever be associated with the guy with the funny mustache. (No, not Chaplin or Oliver Hardy - the unfunny one.) His putsch in Munich in 1923 earned him enough time in jail to write Mein Kampf.

These are strange times. The King and Queen of Ricochet openly talk conspiracy among themselves. In the last week the Queen already declared this was a monarchy with no free speech and in the aftermath of the great peasant revolt, our Supremes debated the concept of the "living, breathing Ricochet." My head spins!

Just remember Princess Grace, my Queen, and always check the brakes. Strange times, indeed!

Yes, let's discuss ClaireCare. Do we agree or disagree with these proposals?

1) Free marijuana and yoga for all, provided by the government.

2) Full, life-term health insurance for all non-human mammals (1/2 of all bills paid for non-mammals) paid for by the government.

3) Fat people fend for themselves.

(Please, Lords and Ladies of Ricochet, get that I'm joking).

Claire, if you have a free moment between conquests, is Hedo Turkoglu a national celebrity in Turkey the way Yao Ming is in China? Does everybody know who he is, sports fan or no?

Also, how popular are hoops in Turkey? Is basketball anywhere near as popular as soccer?

Actually, I would have figured ClaireCare would mean all of Us taking care of Her demands.

Great Leader -- Can you send the jackboots out to search the bars for Kenneth? I am ready to start calling local hospitals. Its been nearly 36 hours since he's been on the board and not like him to fail to weigh in on something as urgent as a putsch...

Whew! I was worried for a moment. So, Fat people should get their liposuction and cosmetic surgery as an entitlement, right?

And, (caution - the next paragraph is insensitive and disrepectful - please only read if you have a sense of humor...)

4) Burqa's made available for any women who might want to convert to Islam at local libraries. Hell, let's include sex change surgery for men who might want to convert and wear the Burqa...should we promise them 72 virgin men if they become martyrs? Or would that be hell? Claire? Ursula? Care to weigh in on this point?

Being part of the "cool" techie ricochet crowd. And being able to retweet the ricochet tweets to build readership.

So, basically, you are a loser and a selfish jerk for not being on Twitter. I say that as somoene who isn't.
