I'm in the airport departure lounge in Riga, waiting for the connecting flight to Tallinn. To the extent one can ever discern the character of an entire nation from the airport of its capitol city, I think I've got this country sussed out: It's the world's biggest IKEA, right? And there are only about 30 people in this country, and they're all quiet, elderly albinos.

Riga is one of my favorite cities. When I visited, I was amazed at how quiet everything was in the old town, even when there were plenty of people moving about.

It is one of the best things about northern Europe/Baltics/Scandinavia. Especially if you are a guy who likes pretty blond girls. I'm just saying.

Perfect.  The randomly selected ad I see on the upper right of this page is for IcelandAir.  Back in spring break of 2000 I had a layover at Reykjavik-Keflavik Airport and believe it or not, there were a lot of us blond people there too!

The last of the Vikings pehaps ? Just a romantic notion there... As ones lineage includes those pillaging folk as well as Vlad The Impaler.  The melting pot concept seems to work.

 Call it Multitasking...Hmmmm..
