He hath Kipl'd, and well-Kippl'd he

Perhaps it's the accent; perhaps it's the way he begins with a Kipling quote. Perhaps it's the efficiency of the remarks, brisk and bracing.
The poem he quotes:
This is the midnight-let no star / Delude us-dawn is very far. / This is the tempest long foretold- / Slow to make head but sure to hold
Stand by! The lull 'twixt blast and blast / Signals the storm is near, not past; / And worse than present jeopardy / May our forlorn to-morrow be.
If we have cleared the expectant reef, /Let no man look for his relief. / Only the darkness hides the shape / Of further peril to escape.

Brilliant. I saw it on The Corner, and sent it to all my friends. Pithy, and right on. I wish Americans could speak like this.

Yes indeed. We're about to find out.

I love Kipling, but one must be a Brit to Kipp'le well. He said more in 1:20 than Obama does in his average 30 minute speech.
Note the beauty of the simple declarative sentence.

It's definitely the accent. Is it too late for Perry to change his?
Re: He hath Kipl'd, and well-Kippl'd he
I was just looking through a few more of his speeches. Odd that he always seems to be speaking to an empty hall. His judgment on this one is ... not as sound.

English teleprompters must run on some wacky track, judging from the way he keeps swiveling his head around. Clever, though, the way it creates the effect of his actually knowing the material and making eye-contact with his audience.

Well, it is the Euro Parliament. Why bother showing up?

Aww, Claire, can't a guy have a hero for more than five minutes these days? Criminey. ;)

He spoke here in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor recently. The crowd loved it. He warned us not to go down the same road that Europe has.

Perhaps the EU representatives are in some backroom deciding how many holes per square centimeter you need before you can claim your cheese is actually Swiss. And when they do decide, I'm sure someone will call for an amendment to the EU Constitution.

Not sure if it's possible, but he would be a great podcast guest... I know he's been on Cavuto, Beck and Hannity.

Like our esteemed guest contributor this week, Mr Hannan blogs at the UK Telegraph - they are by far the best two.
If we could drop that silly rule about natural-born citizens, they would make a great Presidential/VP ticket, though Mr Hannan often writes movingly about his love of the UK countryside (which I share). UK Prime Minister, and deputy, would be fine - but unlikely.
As to the empty chamber in which he speaks, this maybe illustrates the problem with the EU - all the power resides in an unaccountable executive.

I've been a big fan of Mr. Hannan ever since he successfully did rhetorically to Gordon Brown what Guy Fawkes unsuccessfully tried to do physically to James I.
He blowed him up real good!

Daniel Hannan is a wasted talent in the UK. As long as American immigration law seems to bear no merit, why can't we get somebody like him to run for office over here ?

Kipling should be required reading for young men. Roughly between 15-22.

I'm a huge fan of Daniel Hannan, but the award for my favorite British MEP goes to Nigel Farage. Hannan is like deTocqueville, so we love him in the U.S. -- but what the EU needs is a bull in a china shop. So I give you...Nigel Farage.
Farage destroys Van Rompuy
"Just who the hell do you think you people are!?"
Criticisms of "populism" populism are really just criticisms of democracy.
Spend a little time with him on YouTube. I think you'll like him too.
