Allow me to start off with A Very McClane Christmas (known to some people by its lesser-known alternate title, Die Hard).

Fanny and Alexander is a beautiful movie, centered around a Swedish Christmas. Lovely to look at and not as ploddingly obstuse as other works.

The George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol. Love, love, love it!
We watch it every year without fail, and quote it (inside jokes) all year long.

Oh, good! I hesitated earlier to confess to Love, Actually, but I adore it! I'm with you on the others as well (I'm assuming that Rudolf is the Rankin-Bass animated version, since I don't have my DVD handy to check the date), although I prefer an old B&W version of A Christmas Carol that I found at Target's Dollar Spot under the name of Scrooge - it's got extremely eerie ghosts across the board.
Oh, and White Christmas and Christmas in Connecticut.

"Christmas Story" is the best comedy but "It's a Wonderful Life" conveys the spirit best and most endearingly.

The faux horror movie referenced in some other horror film I have long since forgotten. "Santa's Slay - He knows who has been naughty, and he's got an axe!"
Also Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory (several adaptations for TV), where Capote recalls growing up collecting windblown pecans for baking of Christmas cakes, and sending them to their friends. Never fails to raise a tear in this boys eye.

A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim. By far, the best version of the Dickens classic. Although, my daughter might argue that Mickey's Christmas Carol with Scrooge McDuck might trump it.

My first vote goes with "Nat. Lamp." and I like ALL the other choices. Missing from the mix is "A Charlie Brown Christmas." And for those baby boomers like me, try to find a DVD of the "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol." It is a musical. When the elder Scrooge sings a duet with his younger self, "I'm All Alone In the World," you can't help but be touched. It should be a classic. The music is great. And in this version, Scrooge's conversion is far more compelling than most. Amazing, for a cartoon character!

I like this one too. I love Linus's recitation of the Christmas story, and because of that am shocked when I see it on the schedule on broadcast networks.

Overt religiosity, small town values, militarism, even an argument for TARP bank bailouts. What's not to love?! Also, the inspiration for the naming of Sesame Street's "Bert and Ernie".

I'm not sure I could call it my favorite, but I really enjoy the old 'A Christmas Carol' with Alastair Sim. I still believe he's played the best scrooge

True, Die Hard is a Christmas movie. But another 80's, testosterone-filled film is one as well: Lethal Weapon. Or has everyone already forgotten Gary Busey's response to the tv?G**D*** Christmas!!! And the priceless last scene with Murtaugh walking back into his house as Riggs' dog chases the cat around inside. Murtaugh pauses to screw a Christmas light bulb back in even though his house and yard is totally trashed.
