Hate Speech! Hate Speech!
I have been locked away in a studio for two days recording the audiobook of my upcoming novel--which is absolutely terrific, by the way... What was I saying? Oh yeah, locked away... so forgive me if I'm late on this or if someone has already addressed it. As you know, the guy who tried to blow up Times Square last spring was convicted and sent away for life on Tuesday and, what do you know, it turned out he wasn't a Tea Partier protesting Obamacare as Mayor Bloomberg supposed, but a Muslim who wanted to kill Americans because... well, because he's a Muslim. That's not me saying so--he said so:
"Brace yourselves, because the war with Muslims has just begun," Faisal Shahzad told the judge. He also told her he didn't need no stinkin' democracy because he had Sharia law. And he also told her he lied when he swore allegiance to America to become a citizen--as Muslims are instructed to do when dealing with non-believers.
So here's my question. The guy says there's a war with Muslims. He says Muslims believe that Sharia trumps the Constitution. And he says Muslims are allowed to lie to non-believers.
Shouldn't he be prosecuted for hate speech??? I mean, how could he ever think such things about Muslims? What is he, Islamophobic or something? Oh my gosh, maybe he's one of these Tea-Partiers, opposed to Obamacare... in which case, a life sentence just isn't enough!

Then you probably also missed the agitated throng of moderate Muslims marching around the courthouse with signs and chants "Not in Our Name," "Death to Faisal Shahzad,", and "Throw Away the Key!"... Oh, wait.

It's ironic, if there was a moderate Muslim woman--I'm sure they exist--going out to march against violent radical Muslims, THAT'S when she'd need an identity-hiding burka, but she's a moderate, so she doesn't have one.

How about some more "hate speech":
1. This guy should be executed for this, not just life in prison. The fact that he failed and didn't kill anybody has no bearing on the fact that he intended to kill many.
2. If we manage to have both a Republican congress and a Republican president in a few years (seems possible) the first thing they should do is put a halt to further muslim immigration to this nation. It is the only way we can be sure we don't import lying, murderous cretins like this guy.

Hate crimes legislation is an embarrassment. It's just one more way the law tells straight white males that we're worth less than other Americans. If a gay, black Muslim woman was killed, the Left would temporarily set aside their objections to torture and hanging.
If one person kills another for reasons other than defense, the law shouldn't care what those reasons are.

One thing refreshing about the truly evil, cartoonish villains of the world is that they are pretty honest about their intentions. Jihadists are no exception. "We hate everything about you. We want to conquer the world in the name of our faith, and we will gladly kill as many non-believers as possible until you either are eliminated or accept our rule."
It's that kind of honesty that is needed in this time of great political turbulence and deceit. And yet nobody wants to listen when these guys actually say why they are murderers.
