If you can't win legitimately, intimidate.  That seems to be the play book of the government unions (are those really teachers? Worry for the kids if they are.) One member of the assembly feels that they are trapped in their offices; the floor of the assembly has been overrun by protesters.  They're supposed to vote in 30 minutes if the police can clear the floor -- but they are taking over the capitol, coming in through windows. (Earlier in the week this member of the assembly reported that some of the protesters had defecated in empty offices and had caused $7mm damage -- lovely people.)  For people who talk about the "collective", it's really all about the self.

Heather, I was just about to post about this incredibly disturbing story of a death threat sent to WI Republicans, but I'll post it as a comment here.

And yet the liberal canard of conservatives being the violent ones persists (see episode 1 of Kaus/Limbaugh podcast)!  I can't recall a group of conservatives ever, ever doing anything like this.

Heather Higgins: are those really teachers?

Keep in mind that there are about 40,000 undergraduates living only blocks away from the state capitol.

Back in 2003 when I was in school, they could whip up an anti-Iraq-war protest in a matter of hours.

Has anyone in the MSM called them an angry mob yet?

You mean a "largely white", angry mob?

The joys of Facebook.  But like any tool or instrument, it depends on the operator how it is used and to what ends.  Overthrow of tyranny in Egypt vs defecating mobs in WI.

"Civil" is only for one side.

Man, MB Fan, they are largely white in Wisconsin.  Michael Moore is very largely white in his own zip code.  Good to see the New Civility taking hold.

Unions have thuggery built right in.  But, y'know, they're not exactly Winning Friends and Influencing People with this tantrum.  It's like Atheists (nothing wrong with that) protesting Christmas.  Doesn't really move the ball.

Heather Higgins

Diane, that's a heck of a story -- no one else has reported it?

Heather Higgins

Kennedy, totally: it's rather like NPR self-destructing -- nothing is more damaging than a self-inflicted wound.

I suspect Wisconsinites, who had been proud and riding high with the Green Bay Packers, and now mortified and embarrassed that this is going on in their Capitol.  It is also creating reams of pictures of the government unions in the most unsympathetic light.

I saw it on Drudge, so I suspect it's getting some attention.  But certainly not from the MSM who don't like things like this that don't fit with their tidy narrative...

It's their last stand, Red Heather.  We all know what's at stake, right?  Defiance may be all they got.  Fleeing the state wasn't a sign of confidence to begin with.

Diane, Rush has the article in his stack.  (Kit Carson is from WI, so is deep in local sources.)

Heather,

We can hope. Somehow on the left, they never seem to be effected by their fellow travelers.

The moonbat lefties on the Facebook Puppet Pal roster are strangely not trumpeting this.  You'd think they would.  Could it be they're (gasp!) a little embarrassed?

Bruce Springsteen's sisyphean efforts once again for naught, and Doc Savage now has gotten cantankerous about something else.

I have advice for the Wisconsin Republicans.

1. Declare victory for the people.

2. Begin a new offensive immediately.

I suggest Voter ID, with criminal penalties for violators.

On Wisconsin!
