HBO's "Game Change" Appears to Be Accurately Named
Sure, Hobbits are all well and good, but Ricochet is at its core a political site. With that in mind, here's the first trailer for HBO's upcoming film adaptation of Game Change. The movie is based on the book Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime by political journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. Most of the book was devoted to the Democratic side of the race. In fact, there was a minor controversy when it was published as Harry Reid was quoted saying he believed Obama could become the country's first black president because he was "light-skinned" and had "no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." But you wouldn't know any of that by watching this trailer -- the entire Democratic storyline of the book seems to have been ignored by director Jay Roach and writer Danny Strong. Hey, didn't those guys, you know...win? Well, at least Ed Harris as John McCain and Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin look well cast, and Woody Harrelson does look exactly like McCain's campaign manager Steve Schmidt. He captures Schimdt's deer-in-the-headlights look perfectly.

Interesting that they feature Palin over Obama. Good call.
And Julianne Moore is almost as beautiful as the real thing.

I watched that trailer with the sound off (because I really don't care) just to see if Julianne Moore could be made to look like Palin. Pretty close!
The way they hid her face until the end, the producers probably expected many people to watch for the same reason.
