Wow. This is a twist, indeed! They're planning to build the darned thing out of Stars of David! If nothing else, give 'em credit for keeping the world guessing.

If Spiderman had a lair, that's what it would look like.

The cost of a special structure like that will vastly exceed their estimate, and will have many unintended consequences. For example, pigeons would roost everywhere in the crotches of the openings.

What could it be made of that will be stable, durable, and cost efficient? The materials I can think of would be off-the-chart expensive.

The patterns are from traditional Islam, as seen on palaces and mosques. It's just intended to sugarcoat the whole project and distract us from the propaganda victory they're hoping for.

It looks like a shell of a blown up building.

I suppose Stars of David are easier to build with than, y'know, actual funding. Gutfeld's gay bar has more funding.

I'ma gonna build me a skyscraper out of pentagrams and photoshop.

Michael: I thought the same thing. Resembles high-rises in Beirut after a few years of ballistic back-and-forth.

Well, it is a Zionist conspiracy, after all.

Well, so much for the unobtrusive place for local Muslims to worship.

The goal all along has been to get attention and they are getting it. They may never need to actually build the thing. Just threatening to accomplishes the goal and costs less.

Hmm... I also notice that the plan includes that "futuristic" see-through floor look.

I seem to recall that the Apple Stores have tried this before, much to the consternation of ladies who prefer skirts.

Does anyone know if it's traditional to wear pants under one's abaya? Or is this some new, cosmopolitan twist on Muslim modesty?

Ah, Midge, you never fail to spot the bright side. Like the Grand Palais on the planet Ix, settled around a stalagtite, with floors so clear you were walking on air. Never even thought about whether the slave laborers were checking up the skirt of that hot princess they had.

This moderator-endorsed comment by "TieDye" at Ace of Spaces suggests that the proposed facade is filled with references to the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

The most chilling point: "Also, the "dip" in the roofline has the eye seeing two buildings, and the varying light and darker areas do give the impression of smoke...."

Am I just being suggestible--like a kid looking at cloud elephants--or does TieDye not make a good case?

Don't forget that each space represents a different victim from 9/11.

Symbolism is very important in Islam. Or so I've read...
