In honor of Mother's Day, this thread is open to share the collective wisdom of our mothers.
From mine, yesterday: "Sweetie, you only need one skirt. A very nice black skirt. If you have a few fancy tops with you and you change the accessories, you'll be fine."

Re: Good Advice From Our Mothers
"Mother is always right."
That's what my Mom told me. It kept things pretty simple...shut up and do what I tell you, end of conversation. It wasn't, however, just her own children who loved her, but throughout the entire local community of mentally and physically dis advantaged kids, my mom was their Hero, their advocate in unknown (to them) places, their Santa Claus, their oft abandoned family. She was my hero too.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY , MOM!!
I know that somewhere you are throwing a party so everyone around you can have a lot of fun.

Re: Good Advice From Our Mothers
I thought it was absurd to write a thank you note to the PTA for a book they gave all the eighth grade graduates, but my mother said "Then take it down and give it back." She won that one too.

Re: Good Advice From Our Mothers
Another argument Mother always won was when I'd get upset at some punishment and yell "That's not fair." Mother would say "You mean I'm not fair?" I couldn't handle that level of irreverence and always backed down.

"From mine, yesterday: 'Sweetie, you only need one skirt. A very nice black skirt. If you have a few fancy tops with you and you change the accessories, you'll be fine.'" How strange: that's the same advice my Mom gave me. I think it was right after we saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show together.

Re: Good Advice From Our Mothers
My mother taught me that if I ever went into the voting booth and voted for a Democrat my hand would fall off.
She taught me how to swear without swearing. "Son of a Pitch Me Out the Upstairs Window!"
She taught me parental logic. "The next time I take you along, I'm gonna leave you at home!"
She taught me that the Mother's Curse works. "Someday you are going to have a child that treats you exactly like you're treating me at this moment."
And more importantly she taught me that being a good parent means forgiving and that, when it comes to your children, you must be willing to walk through Hell in a gasoline suit.

That is actually my mother, everyone. If you need any maternal advice, she is actually right here on Ricochet, right now.

Wow! Claire's mom! The Queen Mum of Ricochet!
Thanks for giving us Claire. The world would be a less interesting place without her.

I'll say. By the way, isn't that video of her cute? I'd never seen that before.

In a great example of motherly love and tact, when comparing me (in my hard partying musician days) to my straight-laced lawyer brother. My mother would tell people I was "colorful".
Love you, Mom. RIP

Yes, definitely. Even cuter than a new pair of shoes.
