Going line by line

Perry's team has another Romney book flip-flop ad out. Apparently Romney's evaluation of the stimulus changed between when the hard cover and paperback editions of his book were published. It would seem Perry has folks going line by line to see what has been edited into or out of Romney's positions.

Re: Going line by line
The fact that Perry and Romney are being taken seriously by the GOP says a lot about the GOP.

There's a much better alternative to all three - Herman Cain, he's the real deal.

Rick Perry doesn't mind distorting the truth, leaving out key phrases that clarify Romney's intent. He's all about winning but I guess they all are.

Re: Going line by line
I don't have Romney's book to get the full context, but just from that little section shown, it's clear the full sentence was intended to be a criticism of the stimulus, not praise as Perry implies: "...but not as much as it could have" because, presumably, although there were some tax cuts (yay), there weren't enough (boo), instead heavy on spending (boo), etc.
The paperback version came out after the stimulus had been in effect for some time, so it naturally would be revised to evaluate how the stimulus didn't accomplish what it promised. I don't get the scandal.
If it's even a flip flop, it doesn't approach Perry's post-book morph on SS: it's an unconstitutional, monstrous lie of a ponzi scheme.......which, er, nevertheless must be saved at all cost, while exempting seniors and boomers from any and all sacrifice, through reforms I'm not willing to specify, etc.

OK, I have to admit, that was a great ad. Still, I'd like to see Herman Cain get the nomination.

Did they blow the entire AV budget on the Terminator ad?

Re: Going line by line
I'd really like to see someone who is not a career politician like Cain elected in 2024. But, until the momentum of government growth with it's zombie-like tenacity can be reversed, we need someone who knows the system well enough to make strategic inroads.
I think the next president must be able to sell a well calculated detour from the current path. In the last election the nation voted for a savior to grant us salvation from economic disaster, and his utter lack of experience has cost us dearly.
My worry is that a former CEO like Cain will lack patience for the process and push too hard for drastic action, allow himself to be billed as the new "Christ for the economy" and land us in much of the same spot we are in now...just with more blame on our shoulder. Unfortunately, Cain also bears similarity to Obama in their previous experience. Despite Obama's short stints as a legislator, like Cain he was primarily an activist, running on a record of ascension rather than accomplishment.

in the debates, perry was at his most incoherent when he was going after romney. stop attacking romney and focus your fire on obama instead.

Indeed. The circular firing squad gets old after the first volley.
