Girl Scouts Declare War On Fox News?
Conservatives have long been attuned to the takeover of academia and the media. I see less coverage of the takeover of other institutions. Like the Girl Scouts.
The Blaze has a report that shows that the Girl Scouts are teaching members that they should use Media Matters for America to distill their news. I can't think of worse advice for the girls. MM4A is one of the most laughably ridiculous institutions out there. Funded extensively by George Soros and run by David Brock (yes, that David Brock), it must be the least efficient media analysis group out there. In fact, they were so bad at media analysis that in March, they abandoned all pretense of being a media watchdog in favor of fighting "guerilla warfare" and "sabotage" against Fox News.
Why a legitimate group would recommend this biased and shockingly unprofessional group to anyone is beyond me. Why they'd recommend it to little girls shows how out of touch the Girl Scouts' headquarters must be with the rank and file.

Sadly, I am not surprised. Here's a GSA story for you: the magazine "Girls' Life" is published by GSA. One of my volunteer jobs in town involves processing the magazines at the our middle school library. We dropped GL several years ago because the articles were all about looking sexy and hooking up. Just what I would want my daughter learning about through Girl Scouts.

Well on the plus side it appears I will be saving some funds that would have been spent purchasing Thin Mints in 2012.

The Boy Scouts of America should start a competing all-girl organization. This would kill two birds with one stone:
1) Reveal the Girl Scouts to be a political organization rather than an organization interested in developing self-reliance in an outdoor setting.
2) Get the mothers out of the Boy Scouts, a recent development which-- I assure you-- will not result in anything good for the BSA, making it more like the Girl Scouts.
Re. no. 2, let's stipulate that there are many exceptions to the rule, and some mothers do a good job working with Boy Scout troops. But exceptions to the rule do not make good policy.

But of course! Women raise the boys. Men raise the men.

The GSA seems to be going the route of many charitable organizations. They start out with a conservative purpose but over time are taken over by liberals and converted to liberal enterprises.
As a former Cub and Boy Scout, I could never understand why the BSA allowed girls to join. Boy Scouting is about teaching boys to be upstanding, self-reliant, responsible men.

As a Scout alumnus and father of a Boy Scout, one of the best things about the BSA is that the Troop is Scout-led. The adults are there to coach and backstop, not to direct. The growth you see in a young adult from when he first becomes Senior Patrol Leader, until the end of his one year term is impressive. They learn real world leadership skills in a relatively protected environment.

Molly, you may be interested in On My Honor: Lesbians Reflect on Their Scouting Experience by Nancy Manahan. ISBN 1-8866231-02-8.
The organization above the local troop level is effectively owned by adamantine gender feminists, solidly pro-abortion, and substantially populated by lesbians.
KarlUB. My experience has been that the women who get involved in Boy Scouting adopt the Boy Scout agenda, they don't require it to adapt to them. In 10 years of being an active Troop Committee Chairman, I can think of maybe 3 weekend events (and no summer camps) where one mom came along. What is required though is strong male leadership. None ever expressed a desire to put on the green suit and become an Assistant Scoutmaster (which in our troop we have made a prerequisite to becoming Scoutmaster).
OTOH, if it weren't for the moms helping with all the back office (Treasurer, "forms wrangler" recruiting, etc.) we wouldn't have been able to run the troop.
