Re: Gibbs Resigns
Is it possible that there is another human being who combines smarminess and transparent dishonesty as well as Gibbs?
His successor is going to have sore feet. He or she has small shoes to fill.

Re: Gibbs Resigns
Yes!
I've been wondering how long he'd hang in there, or how long the administration would be patient with him.

Re: Gibbs Resigns
He's not going anywhere. All it means is that the 2012 election has officially begun.

Bob Gibbs resigns? I am frankly surprised. I thought he would hang around until the very end, like another "Bob":

Who can think of an appropriate nickname for Bob Gibbs?

How about "Beltway Bob"?

Re: Gibbs Resigns
Sometimes I think that Obama is actually a confused, but fundamentally decent, man. Then I look at a sleazebag like Robert Gibbs, who is apparently one of Mr. Obama's very close friends, and I think better of it.

Re: Gibbs Resigns
He's resigning to go work on the campaign. Because when you're barely keeping your head above water, what you should do...is take one of the worst communicators in living memory and put them in charge of the campaign communications. There's just nothing about this administration that isn't Amateur Hour...

Where on Earth would you get an idea like that?

I can't remember why but Hugh Hewitt calls him "Dilbert" Gibbs. That works for me.

Re: Gibbs Resigns
Apparently I'm alone in this but I'm going to miss Gibbs. The man was so completely in over his head that I couldn't help but be amused and delighted by his performances. Especially if Jake Tapper asked him anything. If Gibbs was in a position of actual consequence (to anyone but the administration), I may have been concerned by his inept footwork, but he wasn't.

Re: Gibbs Resigns
I think this is a great blow. The man managed to make himself more disliked than Scott McClellan, the previous gold standard for repellent mouthpieces. The MSM's fawning for Gibbs' successor will on display for a full year before the inevitable gentle disillusionment sets in. Then the wiffle-ball questioning will return to softballs floated over the plate.

One more candidate, based on the beloved Simpsons: "Homer" Gibbs

Perhaps I will finally stop mourning Tony Snow's passing on a daily basis.
