We need tie-breaking votes. The five copies of Andy McCarthy's broadside go to the authors of the best five comments on this thread. Right now we have more winners than broadsides.
We also need a deadline for voting, so I'm issuing one. The winners will be announced at midnight tonight. Ah, but which time zone? Midnight, central and mountain. Who says we never acknowledge the flyover states?

Sorry to raise picayune details in an election, but, hey, I'm from Florida -- its not how you vote, its how you count the votes.
Are a commenter's votes cumulative, rewarding the commenter who may have contributed the best line of argument to the thread, or does the scintillating zinger prevail? (Totally disinterested here, I bought (and read) the broadside)
BTW: A member is not able to "Like" his/her own comment, the button is blocked.

Oh, wow, I did not know that about the inbuilt anti-cheating mechanism. I guess that tells you I've never tried to show my approval of my own comments.
I think it's really up to the voter to decide the criteria. I trust the wisdom of Ricochet.

Take heart, Claire, we in the back row like your comments. The only exception being when you're screening off the piano legs in the name of Victorian faux-modesty. Sigh! too bad Albert died so young, imagine what history would have been like if Vicky were, er, how shall I put this, somewhat less frustrated.

Claire, you must be a liberal. You issued two deadlines. It is presently, as I type this with my two fingers, 2:53 Central, 1:53 Mountain. Look it up.
