Geithner Should Do the Honorable Thing

Economist Robert Barro in the Wall Street Journal:
The loss of the U.S. government's AAA rating is a great symbolic blow, one that would cause great anguish to our first Treasury secretary, Alexander Hamilton. Frankly, the only respectable reaction by our current Treasury secretary is to fall on his sword.

Actually, in response to speculation about his plans Geithner announced that he is committing to stay on the job through most of 2012. No rest for the wicked. · Aug 8 at 11:52am
