Sen. Jim DeMint has confirmed that the House will block President Obama from making recess appointments, in the following statement emailed to the Washington Examiner:

President Obama has been packing federal agencies with left-wing ideologues, but thankfully he won’t be able to for at least the next week. The House will not be sending an adjournment resolution to the Senate, we will remain in pro forma session, and no controversial nominees will be allowed to circumvent the confirmation process during the break.

Didn't realize they had it in 'em!

Well this is a welcome development.Think of of much the Left has won in the past 50 years because the other side had simply abandoned the field.

In an age when representatives only work from Tuesday to Thursday during session, I don't understand the need for "recess" anyway. It's not as if Congress needs weeks off so they can ride stagecoaches to their home districts.

The good part about recess is that it prevents Congress from making mischief. But with the recess appointment nonsense (both parties do it), it only means that while Congress is away, the White House will be the one making mischief. We get mischief either way.
