Naturally most of the post-convention coverage has zeroed in on President Obama's address. Before we take leave of the party in Charlotte, those who haven't seen Jennifer Granholm's speech would do well to watch it here.

One hint. It may be more fun first to watch the PowerLine version, in which they have affixed Howard Dean's voice over the former Michigan governor's footage.

I have been following Ms. Granholm for some time, and especially the very bad book she wrote about her disastrous tenure as governor of Michigan. I give her this. Her claim that everything President Obama is doing now she tried in Michigan is spot on.

Granholm was certainly hopped up on the Obama spiked Kool-aid. It's obvious that she is hoping for something bigger to come along than only to be known as the former Governor of Michigan.

I recall when the President was the President Elect that I was willing to give him a shot, then put Granholm on the economic development council. I knew at that moment that the economy would be on fire.

Complete loser of a governor, making her the perfect mascot for the Dem's. My loathing for my state's former governor knows no bounds.

I'm sure it sounded better in the original Italian.

On fire as in like a Colorado forest fire burning everything to the ground?  Or like in going great?  I assume you mean the former.

It was a great performance.  I lived through eight years of her here in Michigan and do not like her or her policies, but give her her due.  She is charismatic and that was a great speech for what it was.  To deny that their side has good, attractive, and charismatic speakers because we don't like their messages is a head deep in the sand or other such dark places.

I wish Mitt Romney could give that much of himself while giving a speech.

Are you being facetious? She looked insane up there. Did you see the clip at 5:03? I watched the whole thing with my mouth wide open.

Tommy De Seno: This speech was terrific.

Each week I scout opposing football teams.  I’d screw up the scouting report if I ignored a team’s strength just because I’m about to oppose them.

I disagree with her policy (the GM bailout was sold to us to avoid a bankruptcy and 3 months later GM filed for bankruptcy).   Unlike me her audience agrees with the policy.

Convention speeches are preaches to the choir - to fill them with the spirit.  Boy did she ever!

Peter Drucker famously said that the 3 most charismatic leaders of the 20th century were Hitler, Stalin and Mao. After seeing her on a set piece with Al Gore and Eliot Spitzer and sharing the stage with Bill Clinton, the man the front of whose pants qualified as a federal disaster area (Mark Steyn you fiend, you) I have to say this "charisma" of which you speak, while more entertaining to watch than the ponderous dark eye circles of Walter Mondale, seems to reflect the simultaneous downward spiral of the Democratic party as it preaches to the proletariat about Kant's Pelvic Imperative and the Rawlsian Reproductive Veil of Ignorance.

In the video I linked to in the Member Feed they believe its "so easy" to make the case that we're better off than 4 years ago. Yes, really. Not only is the bathwater scented, but apparently 80 proof, too.

Good thing I read Pseudo before I posted. I have trouble  divorcing style from content, and it's hard to admire or laud a performance if the ideas are reprehensible, or the dynamic, wildly entertaining speech spews out a quantity of lies that resembles the number of stars in a galactic supercluster.

Former, however the fire suffocates what it cannot burn.

Heh.  I never agreed with Ivins much, but she could come up with the classic one-liner on occasion.  Of course, she was no match for Florence King.

All those "jobs saved" that she's championing; how much did that cost us as taxpayers?  Do we now get a discount on the goods or services produced from those jobs?  I mean, heck, even my grocer has a loyalty card that nets me reduced costs to the total due at the register.

I've always wondered how they calculate the census head hunters in their calculations.

He's been a tad busy earning $250 million dollars and developing one of the most impressive resumes in all of America.

No time for speech class.

Yes, but that was then, and now he's running for the top executive position in the nation. He might do well to spend a little of his $250 million to develop that style - might help sell him. He is undoubtedly a good man, and the more I learn about him, the more impressed I am. But he doesn't fire up the grill. And you have to roast those Obama followers to win.

I had the great misfortune to live through what she did to Michigan, which is why I am currently living (and working!) in Arizona.  Before moving to Michigan I lived in California for almost 30 years.  Granholm is just Gray Davis and Jerry Brown in drag.  Jan Brewer can be a little nuts from time to time, but I have to admire some of the things she has done, not the least of which is this note to the President.  http://a.abcnews.go.com/images/Staging/Letter%20to%20President%20Obama%20012612.pdf

Of all those jobs she's talking about.  What's the percentage of Non-Union jobs that were saved.  My guess would be near Zero.

Obama wasn't interested in saving the auto industry.  He wasn't (and isn't) interested in saving jobs.  He was, and is, interested in saving the union contribution money and the union votes.
