Previously the best headline in newspaper history had to be the New York Post's "Headless Body Found in Topless Bar." Today in Ohio, we have this contender: "Banana At Large After Attacking Gorilla in Strongsville." Either this is the biggest scam or one of the funniest stories of the year. Watch the video in the aforementioned link. Here's the beginning of the written report:

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio— There is a banana at large in Strongsville.

Police say that someone dressed up as a banana and attacked the Wireless Center's mascot, a gorilla, last week.

And he did it entirely because you encouraged him to do it by posting this story, Bill!

I show that NY Post front page to my journalism students in Europe every year. It never fails to bring the house down.

Reluctant though I am to lower the tone, I see your banana and raise you one canine- as reported on Journal.ie today.

This reminds me of something my sister once saw in Austin. She was on 6th Street (of course) when a guy dressed up as a steak ran by. A few minutes later, she saw a knife and fork running in the same direction.

Keep it weird, Austin.

I almost inhaled some ice while reading that, it was so funny!

Next you'll tell me it was in the vicinity of The Big Texan restaurant, where they offer a free 72 ounce steak dinner to anyone who can eat it in one hour.
