Please come and join the conversation as the results pour in. As Michigan is a very open primary, Democrat members are particularly welcome. ;-)

Edit: it appears that most of the conversation will be about Michigan, where the overall result is still in doubt, and the Delegate count is even more in the air...

And as I type this, ABC calls Michigan for Romney. And now AP is.... and now FOX. The Delegate count is awarded (almost certainly) one at large delegate each to Santorum and Romney, with each Congressional District awarding 2 delegates to its winner. You can find the District map here, and the results by county here.

Exit polls say that only 59% of voters were Republican. That's probably an icky feeling bit of good news for you, Katie. I don't know where the polls are; Nate Silver has had them for over half an hour, but CNN isn't releasing them until voting finishes.

I'm in my Romney '08 shirt and have surrounded myself with France and snow in order to properly immerse myself in Michigan's history and climate. Plus, it's easier to appreciate America's long, dark, night when the results come in at 3am (and later for AZ). And I can probably come up with more excuses if I think about it.

This is my one night this week (anniversary holiday) when I'm allowed to use my computer rather than my iPhone, so I'm feeling your pain.

First results have Santorum in a clear lead! Will the other 99.7% follow?

From what I see so far, the vote is playing to type. Though, I'd say Rick is running a little better in "his" counties than I'd like.

The results from Kent, Eaton, & Ingham counties will be very interesting.

Kent 13 points to Rick so far. I hoped that would be within 10.

Btw, I am livid that the DeVos family waited until today to endorse Mitt. What on earth were they thinking?

By the way, the delegate count for Michigan is almost entirely (28/30)  by Congressional District, each district awarding two delegates to its winner. The two at large delegates will go one each to Santorum and Romney, assuming both of them clear 25% and neither of them come third.

Ha!

My wife is out poll watching, and I ditched the "wait til she gets home" plan an hour ago.

Is it noon there yet?

The good news for Mitt in MI is that Wayne Co. has only reported a tiny portion (5.8%) of the vote total.

Oh,  there it is (13.3%)  Mitt takes the lead.

Wayne County is a blowout, the Dems rallied modestly at most against him.

Watching these numbers come in has me thinking how nuts and nervewracking it's going to be on election night this November, whoever our guy is.

Congressional districts so far:

Romney: 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th.

Santorum: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th

Contested, 1st, 5th, 7th, 10th, 15th, with the contested districts generally leaning towards Santorum. In the delegate count as well as the straw poll aspect of this, it's very close.

edit: This is just from eyeballing the counties making up the districts; I don't know Michigan at all well. I'm thinking maybe the 8th should be moved to contested.

I'm really surprised at how easily Rick is winning Eaton Co., and equally surprised at how small Paul's vote totals are in the Greater Lansing area. The man had a rally 4,000 strong in East Lansing yesterday.

Maybe his supporters forgot which day the election took place...
